08-10-1931 Minutes1 1 I 1 Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 10, 1931. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Morey, the roll was called and Commissioners Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Stevenson absent. The minutes of the regular Meeting of August 3, 1931 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance consenting to the assignment of the right to distri- bute and sell gas for light, heat, power and other purposes in the City of Salina by the United Power & Light Corporation (of Kansas) to the Kansas Pipe Line & Gas Company, its successors and/or assigns." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Acting Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4096. Application No. 45 for a sign on Lot No. 20, Block 22, Episcopal Military Institute Addition received from Morey Tire Company, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was granted by the Board of Com- missioners. Motion carried. A resolution was introduced entitled: WHEREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad Company has tendered to the City of Salina, State of Kansas, an agreementeovering the con- struction, maintenance and operation of a 12 -inch water main on Union Pacific Railroad Company's right of way in the vicinity of Prescott and Crawford Streets in Jalina, Kansas; and WHEREAS, it is considered that the best interests of said City will be subserved by the execution of said contract; Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commissioners of the City of Salina, State of Kansas: That the terms of said contract be and the same are hereby accepted on behalf of said City, that the Mayor of said City be hereby authorized, empowered and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of said City and that the City Clerk be directed to attest the same.
