Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Benfield absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 27, 1931 were read and approved as read. Bids for the sale of Public Improvement Bonds as advertised for, received from: Stern Bros. & Company, Kansas City, Missouri. Par, Accrued Int.& Premiui:4$11.50 perM Brown -Cru m.,er Company, Wichita, Kansas Par, Accrued Int.&Premium $11.48 perM Commissioner Pafford moved that the bid of City Bank of Kansas City, 111issouri, for par, accrued interest and a premium of $11.50 per M. be accepted, and that certified checks be returned by the City Clerk to the unsuccessful bidders. 14otion carried. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Yorey, Pafford and Spaeth (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Benfield absent. Mayor approved the same and is -numbered 4095. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance consenting to the assignment of the right to distribute and sell gas for light, heat, power and other purposes in the City of Salina by the United Power & Light Corporation (of Kansas) to the Kansas Pipe Line & Gas Company, its successors and/or assigns." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced: 'H�EREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad Company has tendered to the City, of Salina, State of Kansas, an agreement covering the installation, maintenance and operation of certain street lights in the vicinity of the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad Company at Salina, Kansas, said agreement being identified as Union Pacific Raildoad Company's Contract Department No. 18088; and WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Salina has said agreement before it and has given it careful review and consideration; and j WIHEREAS, it is considered that the best interests of said City of Salina will be subserved by the acceptance of said agreement; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: That the terms of the agreement submitted by the Union Pacific Railroad Company as aforesaid be, and the same are hereby accepted in behalf of the City of Salina, State of Kansas; That the Chairman of the Board of City Commissioners of said City of Salina is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of said City and that the City Clerk of said City of Salina is hereby authorized and directed to i attest said agreement and to attach to each duplicate original of said agreement a certified copy of this resolution. ! Mayor approved the same and is numbered 517. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 168 of Resolution Book No. 2. i Application No. 16 for a sign on Lot No. 160 'Neaver's 2nd Addition at Twelfth and Bishop, received from Clayton. Hotel, and on motion of Commissioner Spaeth same, was granted by the Board of Comraissioners. Application No. 44, for a sign on south portion of Lot 3, Surveyor's Plat "G" received from Kansas Landscape & Nursery Com- ': pang, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the installation of a street light at the corner of Tenth Street and Jewell Avenue. Same was referred to the City I�Ianager. City Managers Tentative Budget for the year 1932 was present- ed and read. i City Clerk was instructed to give notice of said Budget in the official City paper as provided by law, and of meeting to be held. August 12th, 1931 at 7:30 P. PT. to consider said budget. On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk i I D
