COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETITIG.
COI+IIMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JULY 20, 1931.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, July 20,
1931. Meeting was called. to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll
was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and
Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 13, 1931 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and ,
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes:Stevenson, Benfield, Morey.
Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 4092.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments agaim t certain property
to pay the cost of constructing certain water and sewer service
pipes in a certain street in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey,
Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 4093.
Pool Hall Applications for the last half of 1931 received

Commissioner Pafford moved that license be granted to the
above named pool hall owners for license for the last half of 1931.
Motion adopted.
Application No. 10, for a sign to be located on Lot 20, Blk.
22, E. M. I. Addition received from Hahn Motor Company, and on
motion of Commissioner Benfield same was rejected by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion carried.
Application No. 28, for a sign on Lot 11, Phillips Street and
Bishop Street, Weaver's 2nd Addition, received from Salina Mercantile
Company, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was granted by
the hoard of Commissioners. Motion carried.
Application No. 38, for a sign on roof of Lamer Hotel, re-
ceived from Lamer Hotel Company, and on motion of Commissioner Morey
same was granted on payment of fees. Motion carried.
Mayor Stevenson appointed W. S. Heusner as a member of the
Welfare Board, for a term of five years from May 21, 1931, and on
motion of Commissioner Pafford appointment was confirmed by the
Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Pafford moved that the City Clerk advertise for
bids for the sale of Public Improvement Bonds, bearing interest at
the rage of 4% or 4-1/4%.'. Bids to be received up to and including
August 3rd, 1931 at 4:00 P. M.
Commissioner Morey moved that the Salina Terminal Elevator Cox
pany be granted a permit to erect a frame, metal covered, composi-
tion fire resisting roof building 270 feet by 32 feet,. located be
tween the elevator of the Salina Terminal Elevator Company and the
building of the Weber Flour Mills Company, on condition that the
same be removed within two years from this date, in accordance with
the written agreement of thisdate signed by Salina Terminal Elevator
Company.
On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
