07-08-1931 Minutes1 I /A 1 [J 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JULY 6, 1931. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, July 6, 1931. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. f The minutes of the Special Meeting of June 29, 1931; Regular Meeting of June 29, 1931 and Regular Meeting of July 1, 1931, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an a appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4086. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to J. E. Hed for the material furnished and labor performed in the construction of steel column type abutment and approach span for the south end of the Ohio Street bridge, and on motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4087. City Engineer submitted Final estimate to Ray G. Tripp Con- struction Company of Herington, Kansas, for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 165 and 166, under contract dated April 270 1931, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Pafford the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4088. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Con- structioh Company for the construdtion of Storm Sewer No. 22 under contract dated March 9, 19310 and on motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropraition for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth. (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4089. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company for the construction of paving improvements under contract dated April 27, 1931, and on motion of Commissioner Pafford same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making ? an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nags: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4091. s The following communication was received from the City Plan- ning Commission: Minutes of the Meeting of the City Planning i and Zoning Commission. Chamber of Commerce - - - - - 5:30 P. M. - - - - - July 21 1931. Present: Dyar, Robb, Shaver, Bren and Reynolds. j The purpose of the meeting was to consider rezoning from residence to commercial the lots on south side of State Street from the present commercial zone west to the city limits; in response to a petition presented by Mr. J. J. Bell living in this territory. Beginning in Block 4 Leavenworth Addition in the g g , , present commercial zone west on south side of State Street including the balance of Lots 1 and 3 in Block 4, and all of Lots 1, 22 3 and 4 in Block 3, and Lots 1 and 2 in Block 2 and Lots 1 and 2 in Block 1. The City Planning Commission recommends that the City com- mission the rezoning bf this tract from residential to co:rm:ercial. The meeting adjourned at 6:30. (Signed) F. L. Motion adopted. I The following communication was received from the Board of Public Works: i Salina, Kansas. July 6, 1931. To the Hon. Board of Commissioners, Salina, Kansas. Sirs: We, your Board of Public Works, recommend that an overflow connection be made at the intersection of Delaware And Johnstown Avenue for the purpose of relieving the Iron Avenue sewers. Trust Deed, with a deposit of $150.00 received from I. I. Bondi, Trustee. Commissioner Morey moved that same be accepted by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the same in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordi- nance No. 3530 of the City of Salina.
