Regular meeting of the Board of Coranl.ssioners, May 25, '_931.
Meeting was call ed to order by Mayor Stevenson, the. roll. was called {
i and Commissioners Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth !
and City Attorney Norris responded.
I The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 18, 1931 and
Regular Meeting; of May 20, 1931 were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the building
and construction of certain lateral sanitary suirer•s in Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Districts No. 1.65 and 166, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issu-
ance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll. was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey, Benfield,
Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nay's: (0) Mayor approved the same and
is numbered. 4062. {
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor
Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, gut-
tering and paving improvements on certain streets in the City of
Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay
the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey,
Pafford. and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 4063.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
I ordinance providing for the issuance of Refunding Bonds of the City
of Salina, Kansas, in the aggregate amount of $20,000.00, for the j
purpose of refunding certain outstanding bonds of such City in a
life amount.
On motion of Commissioner Benfield same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
The following resolution was introduced:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas:
That the Commissioners regret the necessity of accepting
the resignation of R. J. Paulette as City Engineer of the City
of Salina, Kansas, which was tendered to the Board of Commissioners
some time ago to take effect on June 1st, 1931; that the services
rendered to the City of Salina by Mr. Paulette during his term of
office have been of great value to the City and have been of such a
high grade of efficiency and ability that his loss to the City of
Saline. will be keenly felt by the Board of Conmlissioners and by the
City, and it is with regret that on account of the necessity for
economy in the administration of the affairs of the city that the
Board of Commissioners feel that it is impossible to avail themselves
of the class of service which. Mr. Paulette has rendered; and it is
further resolved that the Board. of Commissioners extend to Mr. Pau-
lette their best wishes for his success in the future.

lution Book No. 2. Adopted as read by Commissioner Pafford and is
numbered 516.
City Manager Brown appointed H.N. Lamme as City Engineer to
Pill vacancy caused by resignation of R. J. Paulette, and on motionof
Commissioner Pafford appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commis-
sioners.
