Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, March 23, 1931.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodds, the roll was called and
Commissioners Dodds, Stevenson and Moore and City Attorney Norris
-_,esponded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 16, 1931, were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance snaking an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." I
On motion of Commissioner Stevenccn the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds, Stevenson and Ilioore ( 3 )
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4034.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188, being an ordinance dividing
the City of Salina into zones or districts and regulating and restrict-
ing the location of trades and industries, etc., and the uses of Lands
in each of such districts, or zones, and defining an additional Heavy
Industrial District."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the follotiving vote was had; Ayes: Dodds, Stevenson and Moore (3)
1`:ays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4035.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance levying special assessments against certain property in the
City cf Salina to pay the cost of constructing certain sidewalks
therein."
On motion of Commissioner Moore same was referred to the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the construction of
storm Sewer No. 22 in the City of Salina, and providing for t:.e issu-
ance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance
and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the construction
of new abutment and approach span for the south end of the existing
steel bridte over the Smoky Hill River at Ohio and Elm Streets in the
City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to
pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Moore same was refevred to the Board j

of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and regulating the building and maintenance of
bulkheads, cellar and basement ways, areaways, railings, stairways
and exca.vation3 in streets, and in and under sidewalks in the City of
Salir_a, Kansas ."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a side-
walk on the east side of Das Moines, south of Elm Street in front of
Lots 1 and 3. Same was referred to the City Ivianager.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of brick
pavement on Fairdale Road from the south line of Lot 12, Block 4
Cou.n.try Club Addition to the north line of Overhill Road.
Such petition was examined and it was found to be in due form
and signed by the genuine signatures of all of the owners of real
property liable to taxation for such improvement, and the City Attor-
ney reported that he had checked the records in the office of the
Register of Deeds and that the i r of said titi n are thhe rec-

directed to prepare an ordinance providing for such improvement. Motion
duly seconded and carried.
Mayor Dodds appointed the following Judges and Clerks for
the Primary Election of March 30, 1931 and for the General City
Election of April 7, 1931:
