JANUARY 19, 1031.
Regular meeting of the Board of Corrnissioners, January 19,
1931. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodds, the roll was
called and Commissioners Dodds, Stevenson and. j�'oore and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 12, 1931 and
Regular Meeting of January 15, 1931 were read and approved as read.
Bids for the sale of $22,995.80 Sewer Improvement Bonds as
advertised for were received from:
Alexander, Mcxrthur & Company, Kansas City, Missouri.
Prescott-'uVright-Snyder Company, liansas City, Missouri.
Central Trust Company, `Topeka, Kansas.
Stern Bros. & Company, Kansas City, Missouri.
Brown-CrL er Company, Wichita, Kansas.
Dunne, Dunne & Ransom, Wichita, Kansas.
City Bank & Trust Company, Kansas City, A4issouri.
Commissioner Stevenson moved that bid of Brown-Crummer Company
of Wichita, Kansan, for par, accrued interest and a pranium of
$3.92 per thousand be accepted, and that certified checks be returned
by the City Clerk to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion adopted.

Commissioner 1400re moved that Flood Control Bonds in the
amount of $9873.19 be retained by the City of Salina to be invested
in Firemens Relief Fund. idotion adopted.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance roakinS an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."

On motion of Cormiissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and.
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dad.ds, Stevenson and Moore (3 )
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4009.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance appropriating and transferring certain money from the Unex-
pend.ed Balance Account in the General Fund to the City Clerk's Re-
volving Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and
j adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds, Stevenson and :,goore (3)
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4010.
An ordinance was introduce(. for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for and authorizing the appropriation and
transfer of certain une:�pended balances in certain subdivisions or
departments of the General Fund to an account designated as the
Unexpended Balance Account of the General Fund, and authorizing and
directing the transfer of certain amounts from said unexpended balance
account to certain other subdivisions of the General Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds, Stevenson and liloore (3)
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4011.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to the offices of the City WAPIZArnor and Superintend-
ent of the Waterworks Department of the City of Salina; providing for
the combining of such offices and for the holding of such combined
offices by one person; providing a salary for such combined offices
and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance.
On motion of commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and.
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds, Stevenson and. Moore (3)
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4012.
Commissioner Moore moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign
the proposed agreement between the Western Star Mill Company, the
United Power & Light Corporation, and the City of Salina, relating
to the dam at the Western Star Mill.

Application for Billboard license received from t'v'm. A. Rogers.

motion made and seconded that license �e granted, and the loca-
tion of boards to be furnished the Building nspector.
A petition was presneted asking for the construction of a
cement sidewalk along the north side of Iron Avenue from Delaware j
Street to a point 75 feet east of Iowa Street. Same was referred to
the City i,anager.
Commissioner Stevenson moved that City Tvianager have barricades
constructed on all blind. streets, also on Fourth Street on the east i
side of railroad.

Mayor Dodds made the following appointments:

On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the appointments were con-
firmed by the Board of Corraissioners .
The matter of purchasing fourteen acres of Vyakenhut tract was
discussed by the Board of Comn.issioners, and on motion same was
referred to the Board of Public Works.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
