10-27-1930 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. OCTOBER 27, 1930. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, October 27, 1930. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Dodds, the roll was called and Commissioners Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Helvering absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 20, 1930, were read and approved as read. Bids for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 20, as advertised for were received from: H. J. Taylor Construction Company, H. Stout McKee & Hopper R. C. Snyder. I City Engineers estimate for the above named work was read. Commissioner Stevenson moved that all bids on Section 1, be rejected, and that contract for Section 2 be awarded to R. C. Sny- der as per his bid submitted. Motion adopted. Commissioner Stevenson moved that City- Clerk be instructed to return certified checks to unsuccessful bidders. Bid for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 163 and 164, as advertised for was received from: R. C. Snyder. City Engineers estimate for the above named work was read. Commissioner Stevenson moved that contract for the construction of Lateral Sewers No. 163 and 164 be awarded to R. C. Snyder as per his bid submitted. Motion adopted. Application for a license to conduct a junk yard to be located at 312 North Fifth Street in Salina, Kansas, was received from Sam Heischen and Louis Medov, doing business as Salina Iron & Metal Company. Same was ordered filed. Acting Mayor Dodds appointed John Frederick, E. D. Martin and L. W. Carl as appraisers to ascertain the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral Sewers No. 5-144-145-149 and 162. On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the appointments were con- firmed by the Board of Commissioners. Acting Mayor Dodds appointed John Frederick, E. D. Martin and L. W. Carl as appraisers to ascertain the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 163 and No. 164. On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the appointments were con- firmed by the Board of Commissioners. j A communication was presented from the Mutual Benefit Health and Accident Association of Omaha, Nebraska, regarding health and acci- dent policy for the city firemen. Same was referred to the City Manager. Trust Deed in the amount of $75.00 was received from Florence L. Simkins. Commissioner Stevenson moved that same be accepted by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Ireasurer be instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina.
