09-15-1930 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALIVA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 15, 1930. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September 15, 1930. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 8, 19300 were read and approved as read. Bids for bonds as advertised for were received from: Branch-Middlekauff Co., Wichita, Kansas, Central Trust Co., Topeka, Kansas, Stern Bros. & Co., Kansas City, Missouri. Dt E. Dunne & Sons, Wichita, Kansas. Fidelity Nat'l Corporation, Kansas City, Mo. Brown-Crurmner Company, Wichita, Kansas. United Trust Company, Abilene, Kansas. i Prescott, Snyder 'k Company, Kansas City, Mo. Commissioner Stevenson moved that the bid of D. E. Dunne & Sons, of Wichita, Kansas, for par, accrued interest and a premium of 2.522 per thousand be accepted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina, Kansas. lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven- son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3958. i An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 3956 of the City of Salina, Kansas." t i On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven- son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3959. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining certain lateral sanitary sewer dis- tricts in the City of Salina, designated as Lateral Sewer Districts No. 144, No. 145, No. 149, No. 162 and No. 5, providing for the con- struction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers in such districts and for the cost thereof, and for the levying of special assessments against the property in such districts for the payment of such cost, and for the issuing of bonds therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of a certain storm sewer in the City of Salina to be designated as Storm Sewer No. 19, and providing for the issuance of improvement bonds to pay the cost there- of. On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to the appropriation of private property for the opening, widening and extending of North Street east of the inter- section of North Street and Santa Fe Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. i J0 9 An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $94,331.63, to pay the cost of improving certain streets and alleys in said city." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The appraisers reportsfor the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 147 and No. 160 were received, and on motion of Commis- sioner Stevenson, Monday, September 22, 1930, at 5:00 P. M. was designated as a Special Meeting at which time the reports will be taken up and acted on by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk be instructed to publish notice in the official city paper as provided by law. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for a sanitary sewer on Twelfth Street from Morrison Avenue to Washington Street. Sante was referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sanitary sewer on the west side of Seventh Street and on the east side of Eighth Street from Pacific Street north to Otis Avenue. ISame was referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer No. 149 in Pershing Street between Jewell Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue, thence west 45 feet east of the east line of i Funston Street. Same was referred.to the City Engineer. On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the Board of Commissioners adjourned. i City Cler ,
