COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMZ SIONERS ROGM,

DECEMBER 5th, 1927.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, December
5th, 1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering and Dodds
and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Campbell
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 21st,
1927, and Regular Meeting of November 28th, 1927 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the fb llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering
and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3484.
A petition was presented from the gasoline merchants of
the City of Salina, protesting against the passage of an
ordinance requiring the payment of a license tax by all persons
selling gasoline at retail in the City of Salina. is
On motion, same was taken under advisement by the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating a certain part of a certain alley in
the block bounded by Ellsworth Avenue, Jewell Avenue, Highland
Avenue and Ninth Street."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the fbllowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering
and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3485.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and requiring a license tax for
operating and conducting auctions of merchandise, and fixing
a license tax therefor and providing a penalty for violation of
this ordinance and repealing certain ordinances or parts of
ordinances of the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering
and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent. The
Mayor approved the some and is numbered 3486.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance prohibiting the keeping of hogs or pigs in the
City of Salina and providing a penalty for the violation of this
ordinance and repealing certain ordinances or parts of ordi-
nance in the City of Salina.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering
and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent. The
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3487.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance Number 3482,
passed November 14, 1927, relating to and prohibiting the loca-
tion of certain gasoline filling stations on certain parts of —
certain streets in the City of Salina, and repealing said
original section 1."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An Ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and requiring the payment of an oc-
cupation tax by all persons selling gasoline at retail in the City
of Salina from gasoline filling stations, curb pumps, gasoline
tank wagons, or otherwise; fixing the amount of such occupation tax
and providing penalties for the violation of this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the vacation of
the alley in Block 4 of Morrisonis Addition, said alley being
130 feet west of Twelfth Street. Same was referred to the
City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of the
strip in the middle of Ninth Street from the north side of
Union Pacific Railroad to the south side of Lincoln Street.
Same was referred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, meeting adjourned.
