10-31-1927 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS. REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. OCTOBER 31st, 1927. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, October 31st, 1927. Meeting was called to order by !Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Campbell absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 24th, 1927 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An prdinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent. The :��ayor approved the same and is numbered 3479. City Engineer submitted the following report: Salina, Kansas. October 31st, 1927. Board of City Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas, Dear Sirs: The street paving and appurtenances constructed by the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Contractors, Salina, Kansas, under contract dated June 28th, 1927, have been completed in a satisfactory manner and am attaching hereto final estimate of that work and recommend that the work be accepted and the final estimate allowed. Very truly, R. J. Paulette, City Engineer. On =tion of Commissioner Dodds same was received and ordered filed, and the work embodied in report accepted. City Engineerts Final Estimate for the construction of paving constructed by H. J. Taylor Construction Company, under contract dated June 28th, 1927 was filed and approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance H making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 34RO. City Engineer submitted the following report: Salina, Kansas, October 31st, 1927. Board of City Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. Dear Sirs: The street paving and appurtenances constructed by L. W. Rexroad, contractor, Salina, Kansas, under contract dated June 283, 1927 have been completed in a satisfactory manner. A few setting cracks have developed on South Street and Montrose Street pavement and there was somewhat excessive lait- ance on the pavement on Beloit Street near the west end. I do not, however, expect either defect to materially affect the life of the pavement, and the city is amply protected by the five year maintenance bond. 406 I am attaching hereto final estimate of the work and recommend that the work be accepted and final estimate allowed. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for a method of construction of side- walks and driveways, and other concrete work in the streets and public grounds of the City of Salina, requiring a license and bond from persons engaged in such work, and repealing certain ordinances and parts of certain ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Plat of Crawford Addition was presented with certificate of approval by City Planning Commission, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved as recommended by City Planning Commission, and City Clerk instructed to attach his certificate showing such approval. On motion of Commissioner Dodds, meeting adjourned. City Clerk.
