COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JUNE 27th, 1927.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, June 27th,
1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll
was palled and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
responded. City Attorney Norris absent.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of June 20th, 1927;
Regular Meeting of June 20th, 1927 and Adjourned Meeting of
June 21st, 1927, were read and approved as read.
The appraisers reports were received for the construction
of a main Sanitary Sewer in:

Prescott Avenue between Eleventh Street and Montrose
avenue;
Ohio Avenue between Iron Avenue and the alley south of
Gypsum Avenue, and in that alley between Ohio Avenue and Missouri
Avenue;- and
for the construction of lateral sanitary sewers in:

Montrose Avenue between Prescott Avenue and Crawford
Avenue;
Phillips Street between Prescott Avenue and Crawford
Ave nue ;
Alley between Ninth and Tenth Streets between. Hamilton
Avenue and Inez Avenue;
Alley between Minnea olis Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue from
Fourth Street to Osborne Street;
Montrose Avenue between South Street and Morrison Avenue;
Twelfth Street between Iron Avenue and Walnut Street;
Eleventh Street between Crawford Avenue and Republic
Avenue; . --
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Tuesday, July 5th,
1927 at 5:00 P. M. was designated as a Special Meeting at which
time the reports will be taken up and acted on by the Board of
Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to give notice
of said special meeting in the official city paper as provided by
law.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance repealing Ordinance Number 3400, providing for the
curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of gypsum Avenue
Indiana
from the west line of Ohio Street to the west line of
Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance repealing Section 2 of Ordinance Number 3401,
providing for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 6."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating,

grading and paving Eleventh Street from the north line of Elm
-street
Street to the south ne of Bishop in the City of Salina,
Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the

Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing and guttering the south
side of Country Club Road from the east line of Marymount Road
to the west line of illdale Roadin the City of Salina, Kansas and
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments. 11
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
City Attorney Norris submitted the following report on the
remonstrance against paving Gypsum Avenue from Ohio Avenue to
Indiana Avenue:
"After carefully -checking the remonstrance'. I find that a
majority of the resident property owners owning a majority of
the square feet signed said remonstrance, therefore that resolu-
tion passed May 23rd, 1927 is defeated.`
Bell Taxi Company asked for a perking permit on North
Seventh Street in front of Union Bus Station.
On motion, permit was granted, to be in force as long as
the building was used by the Union Bus Station, and to terminate
if they discontinue using o aid location.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the City discontinue the
issuing of any license or permit to any one to operate a pop
corn stand, lunch stand or anything of a like character, on any
sidewalk or street in the City of Salina, after July lst, 1927.
Same was adopted unanimously by the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the City Manager be in-
structed to r eturn contract and check to Mrs. Newhouse, as no
permit will be granted by Board of Commissioners.
A petition was.presented asking for the curbing and gut-
tering of Euclid Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street.
Same was ordered •d.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of
White Way on Ninth Street from Ash Street to Elm Street.
Same was ordered filed.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned.. until
Tuesday, June 28th, 1927 at 5:00 P. M.
