JUNE 6th, 1927.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, June 6th,
1927. 11eeting was called to order by 11ayor Helvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 31st, 1927, -:and
Adjourned Meeting of June 3rd, 1927 were read and approved as
read.
Mayor Helvering appointed John Frederick, Ralph A. Smith
and Alex Berg to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation
of certain lots and pieces of land liable to special assessment
for the cost of constructing Main Seviers in Main Sevier Districts
"N" and "0'i; and for the construction of Lateral Sewers in Lateral
Sewer Districts numbered 129 to 140 inclusive.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments were
confirmed by the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented protesting against the operation
of a refreshment stand in conjunction with Boat Landing along
Smoky Hill River, north of bridge entering Oakdale Park on South
Street. Same was referred to the City Manager.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by,sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3378.
Consulting Engineer submitted Estimate Number 5 for the
erection of Sewage Disposal Plant in Salina, Kansas, and on motion
of Commissioner Dodds same was adopted and approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
anappropriation out of funds on deposit in the Fidelity Bational
Bank and Trust Company. tt
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering,
Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3379.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3)- Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3380.

bered 3382.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of South Street from the west line of College
Avenue to the east line of Montrose Street, and providing for the
cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of
payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3383.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of Montrose Street from the, north line of
South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue, and providing
for the cost thereof how the same shall be assessed and the manner
of payment therefor. A
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the fb llowing vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Helvering and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3384.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Republic Avenue
from the east line of Fifth Street to the west line of Osborne
Street (on the south side of Republic) and to the west line of
Second Street (on the north side of Republic), and providing for
the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of
payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3385.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading and paving of
Beloit Avenue from the viest line of Ninth Street to the east line
of Highland Circle, and providing for the cost thereof, how the
same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final acb ption the roll was called
and the :b llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3386.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
An ordinance confirming and ratifying a contract for the building
and construction of certain main severs and certain lateral sewers in
the City of Salina and providing for the issuance of temporary notes
to pay the cost thereof as the work progresses, pending the issuance
and sale of bonds for the payment of the cost thereof as provided
by law." _
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3387.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled:
"A resolution relating to the width of sidewalks on Ash Street
between Seventh Street and Ninth Street."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3)
Nays (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 422.
The foregoing resolution is recorded in full On Wage
of Resolution Book Number 2.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Chicago
Street from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of
ark Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same
shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Columbia
Avenue from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of
ooEnstown Avenue, and providing for the cost thereof, how the
same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of Minneapolis Avenue from the east line of
Santa Fe "venue to the west line of Osborne Street, and providing
for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the man-
ner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
. City Manager Ragle appointed J. H. Spaeth as Superintendent
of the Sewage Disposal Plant.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell appointment was con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned.
