MAY 31st, 1927.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, May 31st,
1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering and Dodds and City
Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Campbell absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 23rd, 1927;
and Regular Meeting of May 24th, 1927 were read and approved as
read.
A petition was presented asking for the extension of
water mains on Custer Street from Crawford Avenue to Vanango
Street. Same was referred to the City Manager.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner DDdds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and
Helvering (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Campbell absent. The
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3377.
Bids were received for concession privileges in Oakdale
Park for 1927, and same were referred to the City Manager.
City Engineer's plans and specifications and estimate of
cost for the construction of certain sewers in the City of
Salina, filed in the office of the City Clerk, May 25th, 1927,
were approved by the Board of Commissioners.
City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the
above mentioned sewers, bids to be received up to and including
Friday, June 3rd, 1927 at 5:00 P. M.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading and paving
of Beloit Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the
east line of ig and Circle, and providing for the cost there-
of, hw the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment
therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttdring of
Republic Avenue from the east line of Fifth Street to the
west line of Osborne Street (on the south side of Republic)
and to the west line of Second Street (on the north side of
Republic), and providing for the cost thereof, how the same
shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering, excavat-
ing, grading and paving of Montrose Street from the north line
of South Otreet to the north line of Morrison Avenue, and
providing for the cost thereof, Ithow the some shall be assessed and
the manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of South Street from the west line of Col-
lege Avenue to the east line of Montrdse Street, and providing
for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the
manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A resolution relating to the width of sidewalks on Ash
Street between Seventh Street and Ninth Street."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, meeting adjourned until
Friday, June 3rd, 1927 at 5:00 P. M.
