05-23-1927 Minutes14W COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MAY 23rd, 1927. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, May 23rd, 1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 16th, 1927 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining certain Main Sewer Districts in the City of Salina, desginated as Main Sewer Districts "N" and 110", and providing for the construction of main sewers in the Districts so created; providing for the cost thereof and for the levy of special assessments against the property in such districts for the payment of such costs, and for the issuing of bonds therefor." On motion of Commisd.oner Campbell the Drdinancecwab:eead and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fallowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3375. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining certain Lateral Sewer Dis- ?ricts in the city of Salina, designated as Lateral Sewer Dis- tricts Numbered 129 to 140 inclusive; providing for the con- struction of Lateral sewers in certain of the districts so created; providing for the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in such Districts for the payment of such cost, and for the issuing of bonds therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3376. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Gypsum Avenue from the west line of Ohio street to the west line of Indiana Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 419. The foregoing resolution is recorded in full on Page 58 of Resolution Book Number 2. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering and paving Inez Avenue from Ninth Street to Eleventh Street. Same was ordered filed. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Inez Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street thence west 700 feet to the west city limits." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving; of Ninth Street from the north line of Otis Avenue to the north line of Inez Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same vias referred to the Board of Commissioners. COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. 307 308 31.0 Bids for concession privileges in Oakdale Park for the season of 1927 as advertised for, were received from: J. B. Anderson, Paul Jackson, Warren F. Hoover, Otis L. Jordan. Commissioner Campbell moved that all bids be rejected and that the City Clerk re -advertise for bids to be received up to and including May 31st, 1927 at 5:00 o'clock P. M. The Board of Commisd oners will not consider any bids for 14 less than $300.00. S. I. Nelson, who was appointed to act as appraiser on certain paving projects, declined to qualify, and Mayor Helvering appointed Ralph A. Smith to fill vacancy. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointment was con- firmed by the Board of Commissioners. J. H. Guyton appeared before the Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the dentists of the City of Salina, and requested that the dentists bd even special permit to leave their cars standing in the two-hour parking district without any restriction. On motion, the matter was taken under advisement by the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Dodds, meeting adjourned until Tuesday, May 24th, 1927 at 5:00 P. M. City Clerk.
