04-11-1927 MinutesCOMMB SIGNERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 11th, 1927. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 11th, 1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 4th, 1927; Canvassing Board Meeting of Apirl 8th, 1927; and Adjourned Meeting of April 8th. 1927 were read and approved as read. City Clerk administered oath of office to Guy T. Helvering and Chas. F. Dodds, newly elected members of the Board of Commis- sioners of the City of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Campbell nominated Guy T. Helvering as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Mayor of the City of Salina., Kansas for the ensuing year. Commissioner Dodds moved that the City Clerk cast the unani- mous vote for Guy T. Helvering as Mayor of the City of Salina, for the ensuing year. Motion carried and Guy T. Helvering declared elected as Mayor for the ensuing year. Commisd oner Dodds nominated L. T. Campbell as Acting IYlayor of the City of Salina, Kansas for the ensuing year, to act as such in the absence of the Mayor. On motion L. T. Campbell was selected to act as Mayor for the ensuing year during the absence of the Mayor. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering excavating, grading and paving Eleventh Street in the City of alina, Kansas from the north line of Elm Street to the south line of Bishop Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor. it On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Helvering and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The .iayor approved the same and is numbered 3357. Anordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance defining a certain misdemeanor"and providing penalty for violation thereof." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read. and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3358. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to the bond and defining the duties of the City Treasurer; providing for the depositing of the public funds of the City of Salina; designating the depositories of such funds and repealing Section 6 of Ordinance Number 280, as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance 1180, Section 9 of Ordinance No. 280, and Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2399, being Sections 6-205, 6-208 and 4-101 of the Revised Ordinances 1925, and any other ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the -provisions of this ordinance. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll w9s called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Cambpell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3359. A petition was presented asking for the installation of White Way on Ninth Street from Iron tivenue to Walnut Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was tabled. 94 A petition was presented asking for the location of an are light at the intersection of Ash Street and Phillips Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, same was tabled. A petition was presented asking for the vacation of an alley between Ellsworth Avenue and Jewell Avenue commencing 125 feet east of Santa Fe Avenue, thence east for a distance of 400 feet. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, City Attorney was instructed to draft ordinance providing for the vacation of above named alley. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sanitary sewer on Prescott Avenue from E7_eventh Street to Twelfth Street. . On motion, same was referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering and paving of Montrose Avenue from South Street to Morrison Avenue. Same was ordered filed* A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering, and paving of Beloit Avenue from Ninth Street west to Highland Circle. Same was ordered filed. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Montrose Avenue from the south line of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue.rr On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Republic Avenue from the east line of Fifth Street to the west line of Osborne Street. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resoluton was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Beloit Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line of T-Tighland Circle." On motion of Commissioner Campbell, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned. City Clerk.
