03-07-1927 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. Commissioners Room, Salina, Kansas. March 7th, 1927. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, March 7th, 1927. Meetingwas called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 28th, 1927 were read and approved as read. An'ordinanee was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3338. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Crawford Avenue from the east line of Tenth street to the east line of the Mlssiiiiri Pacific Railroad Righteof-way, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be paid and assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. j An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the grading and paving of a certain street in the City of Salina, commencing at the Section corner + common to Sections 7, 81 17 and 18, Township 14, Range 2 and running thence east 1880 feet to the city limits, known as Country Club Road and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be paid and assessed, and the manner of payment there- for." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. r] Consulting Engineer submitted Estimate Number 2 for the erection of Sewage Disposal Plant. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was approved and ordered filed by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation out of funds on deposit in the Fidelity National Bank & Trust Company. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp - b ell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3339. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3340. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Pacific Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the center line of Front Otreet, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. r] 282 An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuance of i negotiable coupon bonds of the City of SalinaA Kansas in pay- ment of a certain judgment against said City. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to the construction and reconstruction of certain sidewalks along certain streets in the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Manager Ragle reported favorably on petition asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of Ninth Street from Hamilton Avenue to Antrim Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Campbell report was adopted by the Board of Commissioners. The Police Judge was authorized to eliminate certain uncollected old fines from his monthly report in the future. A list of the same to be retained by the Chief of Police to be collected at any time that opportunity presents itself. As per instruction, the City Engineer filed plat of the landland to be appropriated for the opening, widening and ex- tending Eleventh Street from the south line of Park Street to a point 130 feet south of said south line of Park Street, consist- ing of Lot 2 and the east 18 feet of Lot 1, Abbott & Williams Addition to the City of Salina.
