FEBRUARY 7th, 1927.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February
7th, 1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 31st, 1927
were read and approved as read.
Bids for 13,000 feet of fire hose as advertised for were
received from:
Eureka Fire Hose Company,
B.F.Goodrich Rubber Company,
Bi -Lateral Fire Hose Company,
Empire Tire & Rubber Corporation.
Commissioner Dodds moved that the contract for hose be
awarded as follows:
500 feet of 'White King" Brand to B. F. Goodrich Rubber
Company at a price of $1.30 per foot.
500 feet of "Paragon" Brand to Eureka Fire Hose Mfg. Com-
pany at a price of $1.40 per foot.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Helvering,
Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3329.
Consulting Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1, for
construction of Sewage Disposal Plant.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was approved and
ordered filed by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making an appropriation out of funds on deposit in the Fidelity
National Bank & Trust Company."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3330.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
irV,, appropriations for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3331.
The resolution which was introduced December 20th,
1926 for the curbing, guttering, grading and paving Pacific
Street from Santa Fe Avenue to the City limits at Fronttreet
n accordance with the provisions of Sections 13-1032 to 13-1035
inclusive of Revised Statutes of Kansas 1923 was presented for
final adoption.
The City Clerk produced evidence of the publication in the —
official City paper of a notice of the introduction of said
resolution twenty days before this date, and that this day, hour
and place was fixed in said notice as the time and place for
hearing written objections to said public improvement and to the
passage of said resolution. The City Clerk announced that no
written objections had been filed and no persona appeared to
object to said resolution or to said improvement."

On motion of Commissioner Dodds duly seconded, said resolu-
tion was duly adopted as read and on its finala doption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering,
Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 404.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page of
Resolution Book Number 2.

On motion of Commissioner Campbell duly seconded and carried
the City Clerk was instructed to certify said resolution as adopt-
ed to the Board of County Commissioners of Saline County for
action as provided by law.
The resolution which was introduced December 20th, 1926 for
the curbing, guttering, and paving Crawford Avenue from Tenth
Street to the City limits at the Missouri ac f c racks, in
accordance with the provisions of Sections 13-1032 to 13-1035 in-
clusive of Revised Statutes of Kansas 1923 was presented for
final adopt ion.
The City Clerk produced evidence of the publication in the
official City paper of a notice of the introduction of said
resolution twenty days before this date, and that this day, hour
and place was fixed in said notice as the time and place for
hearing written objections to said public improvement and to the
passage of said resolution. The City Clerk announced that no
written objections had been filed and no persons appeared to object
to said resolution or to said improvement."
Commissioner Campbell moved that the resolution be amended
to read 30 feet in width instead of 36 feet. Motion carried.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell duly seconded, said
resolution was duly adopted as amended and on its final a doption
the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 405.
The above resolution is recorded in full. on Page f of
Resolution Book Number 2.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds duly seconded and carried
the City Clerk was instructed to certify said resolution as adopt-
ed to the Board of County Commissioners of Saline County for action
as provided by law.
Application for taxicab license for the year 1927 was receivd
from Lewis F. Colvin.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds license was granted.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of
water main on Wilson Street from. Fifth Street to Third Street.
Same was referred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, Mayor was authorized to
sign agreement between the City of Salina and James Haley for
ground to be used for the new sewage disposal plant.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
