C012HISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR A?EETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SA LINA , KANSAS.
JANUARY 3rd, 1927.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January
3rd, 1927. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 27th, 19269
were read and approved as read.
Bids for the ;139,662.55 Sewage Disposal Plant Bonds as
advertised for were received from:
Fidelity National Bank & Trust Company,
The First Trust Company,
Commerce Trust Company,
Columbian Title & Trust Company,
Prescott -Wright -Snider Company,
Stern Bros.,
Branch-Middlekauff Company,
Shawnee Investment Company,
Commissioner Dodds moved that the bid of Fidelity National
Bank & Trust Company of Kansas City, Missouri at 4-1/4base
be accepted, and that the certified checks be returned to the
unsuccessful bidders. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.11
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3322.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the salaries, compensation and
duties of certain city officers, and creating certain offices,
and repealing certain ordinances and parts thereof, and all
other ordinances in conflict herewith.rr
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final a doption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3323.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance authorizing and directing the issuance of Ueneral
Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost
of constructing a system of disposal works for the purification
of the sewage of said City."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same .was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equip-
ping and maintaining of a street lighting system of Santa Fe
Avenue between the south line of Walnut Street and the north line
of Mulberry Street, and awarding a contract for the construction,
installation and equipment of such system, and providing for the
levying and assessment of special assessments against the
property abutting upon the street to improved for the payment of
such cost."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.

Board of Commissioners appointed M. C. Stevenson and
Chas. E. Banker as members of the Cemetery Board for a term
of three years from January lst, 1927.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds appointements were con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
Carl S. Byers submitted his resignation as Police
Judge of Salina, Kansas, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds
same was ac,�:epted by the Board of Commissioners.
City Manager submitted the name of Omer D. Smith as
Police Judge of Salina, Kansas, to fill unexpired term of
Carl S. Byers who resigned.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the appointment was con-
firmed.

Commissioner Dodds moved that the contract for the
erection of the stand pipe be extended sixty days to enable
the contract to paint the structure later in the season. Motion
carried.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
