COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.

October 18th, 1926.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, October 18th,
1926. Meeting was called to order by Acting 14iyor Campbell, the
roll was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dodds and City
A ttorney Norris responded. Commissioner Heivering absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 11th, 1926
were read and approved as read.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing, gutter-
ing and paving Minneapolis Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to
Osborne Street. Game was referred to the City manager.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on the west side of Ninth Street from a point 300 feet
south of Crawford Avenue to Frost Street. Same was referred
to the City Manager.
Pool hall application was received from Putt Price,
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was granted.
Acting Mayor Campbell appointed the following named
Judges and Clerks for the General Election of November 2nd, 1926:

On motion of Commissioner Dodds appointments were confirmed
by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes*"
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2)
Nays (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
R the same and is numbered 3295.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance amending
Section 2 of Ordinance Number 3288 entitled, tAn ordinance providng
for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas,
in the sum of $18,977.99 to pay the cost of improving certain
streets and constructing a certain storm sewer in said Cityt and
repealing original Section 2 of said Ordinance."

I hereby request the passage of the annexed ordinance No. 3296
on the date of its introduction on this date, for the reason that
an emergency exists requiring its immediate passage.

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the above named ordinance
was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor
approved the same and is numbered 3296.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping and
maintaining of a street lighting system on Iron Avenue between the
Iron Avenue bridge and the center line of Section 18, Township 14,
Range 2, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation
and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the
levying and assessment of a special assessment against the property
abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such cost.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2) Nays:
('0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3297.

"An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping
and maintaining of a street lighting system on Iron Avenue between
the west line of Ninth Street and the east line of College Avenue,
and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation and
equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the
levying and assessment of a special assessment against the property
abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such
cost."
On moti on of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and , Dodds (2 )
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3298.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping
ans maintaining of a street lighting system on Santa Fe Avenue
between the south line of Mulberry Street and the north line of
Claflin Avenue, and authorizing a contract for the construction,
installation and equipment of such street lighting system; and
providing for the levying and assessment of a special assessment
against the property abutting upon the street so improved for the
payment of such cost."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2 )
Nays (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting I4ayor approved
the same and is numbered 3299.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping
and maintaining of a street lighting system on Ash Street between
the west line of Santa Fe Avenue and the west line of--elfth
Street, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation
and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for
the levying and assessment of a special assessment against the
property abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of
such cost."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2)
Nays (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3300.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping
and maintaining of a street lighting system on Twelfth Street
between the north line of Ash Street and the south line of Bishop
Street and authorizing a contract for the construction, installa-
tion and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for
the levying and assessment of special assessments against the property
abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such cost.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2 )
Nays (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3301.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance provising for the constructing, installing, equipping
and maintaining of a street lighting system on Seventh Street
between the north line of Ash street and the south line of Elm
Street, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installa-
tion and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing
for the levying and assessment of special assessments against the
property abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of
such cost."

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following Grote was had: Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2 )
Nays (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3302.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance crew ting and defining Lateral Storm Sewer District
Number 4; providing for the construction of a lateral storm sewer
in said district; providing for the cost thereof and for the levy-
ing of special assessments against the property in such district
for the payment of such cost, and for the issuing of bonds there-
for."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
