10-11-1926 Minutes1 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. OCTOBER 11th, 1926. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, october 11th, 1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 4th, 1926, were read and approved as read. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a storm sewer in Country Club Heights, addition. On motion, same was referred to the City Manager. Bids for the installation of lighting system on: Iron Avenue from east side of Iron Avenue Bridge to center ection 18, Township 14, Range 2 West; Iron Avenue FROM Ninth Street to College Avenue; Ash street from Santa Fe Avenue to 'Twelfth Street; Seventh Street from Ash Street to Elm Street; Santa Fe Avenue __ from Mulberry Street to Claflin Avenue; Twelfth Street from Ash Street to Bishop Street; were received, from the United Power & Light Corporation. Commissioner Campbell moved that the bid of United rower and Light Corporation be accepted and that the ?payor be authorized to sign contracts, An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equiipping and maintaining of a street lighting system on Iron Avenue between the Iron Avenue bridge and the center line of Section 18, Township 14, Range 2, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the levying and assessment of a special assessment against the property abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such cost." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping and maintaining of a street lighting system on Iron Avenue between the west line of Ninth Street and the east line of College Avenue, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the levying and assessment of a special assessment against the property abutting upon the street so im- proved f or the payment of such cost." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equipping and maintaining of a street lighting system on Santa Fe Avenue between the south line of Mulberry Street and the north line of Claflin Street, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation and equipment of such street light- ing system; and providing for the levying and assessment of a special assessment against the property aputting upon the street so improved for the payment of such coat. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. .e� 6 An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing equip- ping and maintaining of a street lighting system on Ash Street between the west line of Santa Fe Avenue and the west line of Twelfth Street, and authorizing a contract for the construction, installation and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the levying and assessment of special assessments against the property abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such costs. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissi6ners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the constructing, installing, equip- ping and maintaining of a street lighting system on Seventh Street between the north line of Ash Street and the south line of Elm Street, and authorizing a contract for the construction, install- ation and equipment of such street lighting system; and providing for the levying and assessnent of special assessments against the property abutting upon the street so improved for the payment of such cost." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina. Kansas: 1. That center suspension pendant type 400 C. P. lights be installed at the street intersections in the City of Salina described as follows: Gypsum and Ohio Streets Ninth and Euclid Streets L"ilson and Sheridan Streets Eleventh and Crawford Streets Missouri Pacific Railroad and Crawford Streets Fifth and Euclid Streets Walnut and Clark Streets Ninth and Ellsworth Streets Sheridan and Crawford Streets Lincoln and Eleventh Streets 2. That the 60 C. P. Suspension bracket type lights located at the following street intersections be immediately discontinued: Ninth and Ellsworth Streets Tenth and Crawford Streets Ninth and Euclid Streets Walnut and Clark Streets. 3. That the 400 C. P. suspension pendant type light now located at Thirteenth and Crawford Streets be discontinued. 4. That all street intersection traffic guide lights now in operation being eight in number be discontinued. 5. That the 400 C. P. lights now installed at the following street intersections be changed from mast arm type to center suspension type: Ninth and Republic Streets. All intersections on North Street from Railroad to Euclid Streets, inclusive. 6. That a certified copy of this ordinance be delivered by the City Clerk to the United Power & light Corporation in accord- ance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 3294.
