SALINA , KANSAS
AUGUST 23rd.01926.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 23rd,
1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering and Campbell and City Attor-
ney Norris responded. Commissioner Dodds absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 16th, 19269
were read and approved as read.
Commissioner Campbell moved that levy for Library Fund be
increased to one-half mill.
Commissioner Campbell moved that levy for Band Fund be
increased to two-tenths mills.
Commissioner Campbell moved that Budget for 1927 be adopted
as amended.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and
other purposes in the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1926."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and
Campbell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Dodds absent. The Mayor
approved the same and is numbered 3283.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance levying special assessments against the property
herein described to pay the cost of Ronstructing certain side-
walks in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
Balled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, and
ampbell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Dodds absent. The
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3284.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
ItAn ordinance making a special assessment and k vy of taxes for
the cutting of weeds on certain lots and parts of lots in the
City of Salina, Kansas.ft
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Camp-
bell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Dodds absent. The Mayor ap-
proved the same and is numbered 3285.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on the south side of Ellsworth Avenue from Osborne Street
to connect with sidewalk west of Union Pacific Tracks.
On motion, same was referred to the City Manager.
Bids for the sale of Paving Bonds in the amount of
-$17,355.15 as advertised for were received from:
State Exchange Bank, Hutchinson, Kansas. Par & Accrued Interest
Central Trust Co., Topeka, Kansas. Par & Accrued Interest
Premium $2.15 per M.
Brown & Crummer, 1,1lichita, Kansas. Par & Acdrued Interest

Commissioner Campbell moved that. bidders be asked to
state allowance for printing bonds. Same was referred to the
City Attorney. 4
On motion of Commissioner Campbell contract for con-
struction of stand pipe was aws0ded to Chicago Bridge & Iron
Works$ for the sum of $8075.00. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
amending Section Two (2) of Ordinance Number 3269 entitled,
"An ordinance relating to the apportioning special assessments
on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina,
Kansas, etc", and repealing Original Section Two (2) It
Mayor Helvering presented written request for adoption of
the above named ordinance on first reading, and on motion of
Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Campbell (2)
Nays (0) Commissioner Dodds absent. The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3286.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners f
adjourned until Thursday, August 26th, 1926 at 5:00 P. M. -
