COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
AUGUST 9th, 1926.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August
9th, 1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 2nd, 19260
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
appropriating money for the payment of a certain claim.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll ,was

called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering,
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The 1Tayor approved the same
and is numbered 3275.
A recommendation was received from the Water forks Ad-
visory Board recommending that a stand pipe of at least 250,000
gallon capacity be conneceted to the present main located near
the cemetery.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the recommendation of
the water '.'Yorks Advisory Commission be approved.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the recommendations of t1T
City Engineer relative to several water extensions be adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for a license tax upon certain itinerant

or transient! -persons not residents of the City of Salina,
and providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was ca11el
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3276.
The following resolution was introduced for second read-
ing:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of commissioners of the
City of Salina, that the City of Salina enter into a contract

On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0)
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance condemning certain sidewalks in the City of Salina
which are worn out or unfit for repair and providing for the
reconstruction of such sidewalks and providing for the assess-
ment of the cost thereof on the property abutting thereon."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating a portion of a certain alley in the
City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
Auditors report on the first six months operation of water
department under City Management was presented.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, same was approved and order-
ed filed.
The following communication was received from the Salina
Street Railway Company:
To the Hon. Board of City Commissioners,
of the City of Salina, Kansas.
The undersigned, The Salina Street Railway Company,
respectfully requests your Honorable Body for a change of the
present Bus Ordinance as to route in the city of Salina as
follows:
Commencing; at the entrance to the Country Club grounds at
the northeast corner of Sedtion 16-14-2, thence south to the
center of Iron Avenue, thence west on Iron Avenue to Phillips
Street, thence north on Phillips Street to State Street, thence
west on State Street to College Avenue, thence south on College
Avenue to South Street, thence east on South Street to Baker
Street, thence north on Baker Street to Iron Avenue, thence east
along the same route to place of beginning.
You are further petitioned for permission to discontinue
what is known as the Walnut Street -Street Car.

On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was ordered filed.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of

Same was referred to the City 11anager.
City Managers tentative budget for the year 1027 was in-
troduced on first reading.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
