07-19-1926 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MPETING. COMMISSION) RS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JULY 19th, 1926. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, July 19th, 1926. Meeting was called to order by 11ayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and ,City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 12th, 1926, and Special Meeting of July 12th, 1926 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helver- in.g, Campbell and Dodds. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3266. City Engineer submitted Paving Estimates for work com- pleted under contract dated July 23rd, 1926. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Snyder & Meilert presented bond for construction of a storm sewer in Sewer District Number 2, under contract dated July 9th, 1926. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helver- ing, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3267. City Engineer submitted sewer Estimate for sewer work completed under contract dated July 9th, 1926. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinanpe mk- ing an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, excavating, grading and graveling with sand clay Ellsworth Avenue from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Usborne Street; for the curbing excavating, grading and graveling with sand clay College Avenue from the soth line of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue; for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and graveling of Ash Street from the west line of the right-of-way of the MissourPacific Railway Company to the east line of Olive Street; for the excavating, grading and graveling with sand clay of Third Street,_ from the south line of Iron Avenue,, south to the Smo=k-jill Riber; for the excavating, grading and paving Baker Street from the south line of South Street to the north line of Mor- rison Avenue, all in the City of Salina.. Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dodds, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. 1 I. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of building and constructing a lateral storm d.ewer in Lateral storm sewer district dumber 2 in said City, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing the conveyance of certain} real estate by the City of Salina to C. H. Harper and Mary D. Harper. On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. -� An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: An ordinance relating to billboards and signs in the City of alina, providing a license and occupation tax, prescribing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance and repeal of said,, ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with its terms. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A request was received asking for the cancellation of A. E. Bishop, plumbing bond, same to take effect June lSth, 1926. Commissioner Campbell moved that bond be cancelled. Mayor Helvering appointed the following named Judges and Clerks for the Primary Election to be held.
