07-06-1926 MinutesThe appraisers reports for excavating, grading and gravel- ing Third Street from Iron Avenue south to the Smoky Hill River; Excavating, grading and paving Baker Street from South Street to Morrison Avenue; curbing, .excavating., grading and graveling Ellsworth Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Osborne Street; Curbing, excavating, grading and graveling College Avenue from South Street to Morrison Avenue; Curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and graveling Ash Street from Missouri Pacific Right-of-way to Olive Street, were received, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds, Monday, July 12th, 1926 at 5:00 P. M. was designated as a Special Meeting at which time the appraisers reports will be taken up and acted upon by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk give notice in the official City paper as provided by law. COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. I r COMtviISSIONE_'RS ROOM, SALINA. KANSAS. JULY 6th, 1926. Regular meeting of the Board of Gommissioners, July 6th, 1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 28th, 1926 were read arrd approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3261. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropraitoin for the payment of a certain claim. it On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3262. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: An ordinance specifying and selecting the material and letting a contract for the construction of a lateral storm sewer in Storm Sewer District No. 2, in conformity with provisions of the Ordi- nance 3246 of the City of Salina, passed and approved May 17th, 1926." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the sams and is numbered 32633, An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance extending the route of the bus line operated by the Salina Street Railway Company as authorized by Ordinance Number 3227 and changing the schedule fixed in said Ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of ' the City of Salina, Kansnas , in the sum of $17,355.15 to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. M. was designated as a Special Meeting at which time the appraisers reports will be taken up and acted upon by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk give notice in the official City paper as provided by law. 202 The appraisers report for the construction of a sewer on Ash Street from Missouri Pacific Railway Company to Olive Street was received, and on motion of Commissioner Campbell, Monday, July 12th, 1926 at 5:00 was designated as a Special Meet- ing, at which time and place the report will be taken up and acted upon by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk give notice in the official City paper as provided by law. A petition was received asking for the installation of an arc light at the corner of Ohio Avenue and Gypsum Avenueo same was referred to the City Manager. Pool fall applications for the last half of 1926 were re- ceived from: Wm. E. Gordon, Geo. Holzmeister, Roy Muller, R. G. Foil, N. A. Wilhelm, Rex Smoker, C. M. Allen L. 0. Wilhelm - Commissioner Campbell moved that action on same be deferred until all of the above mentioned Pool Hall owners have filed their necessary bond, City Engineer asked for further time to file plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the proposed 'iIrNhite v'jay" on: Santa Fe Avenue from Mulberry Street to Claflin Avenue Iron Avenue from east end of Iron Avenue Bridge, east to the present eastern city limits; Iron Avenue from Ninth Street to College Avenue; Seventh Street from Ash Street to Elm Street; Ash Street from Santa Fe Avenue to Twelfth Street; Twelfth Street from Ash Street to Bishop Street. Commissioner Campbell moved that time be extended to on or before August 2nd, 1926. Motion carried. Bids for auditing dater Viorks accounts were received from: I Farmers Union Auditing Co., Salina, Kansas. The Public Utility Investment Co., Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Campbell moved that contract be awarded to Farmers Union Auditing Company of Sa 1 ina , Kansas , as per their bid submitted, audit to be completed not later than August 1st, 1926.
