COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR P:E ETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
MAY 14th, 1926.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, May 14th,
1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering, ampbell and Chambers
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 10th, 1926, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188 by adding certain lands
to the "C" Commercial District and the rrB" Residence District, and
elininating the same from the Use Districts in which they are now
located, and by adding certain lands to the "C" Area District
and eliminating the same from the "A" Area District, as defined
in said ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is 3242.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance creating and defining a lateral storm sewer district
to be known as Lateral Storm Sewer District Number 1, providing
for the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments
against the property in such district, for the payment of such cost
and for the issuing of bonds therefor.'r
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance creating and defining a lateral storm sewer district to
be known as Lateral Storm Sewer District Number 2; providing for
the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against
the property* in such District, for the payment of such cost and
for the issuing bf bonds therefor. rr
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance regulating the use of the Municipal Swimming Pool,
prohibiting the use thereof to certain persons, conferring certain
authority on the superintendent of said pool and other employees
and officers, and providing certain penalties for the violation
of the provisions of this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
rrAn ordinance relating to the Smoky Hill River in the City of
Salina, defining certain misdemeanors, defining certain public
nuisances and providing for the abatement, thereof and providing
for the payment of the cost of such abatement, and providing
penalties for the violation of the provisions of this ordinance.'r
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
City Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section l of Ordinance Number 3048 entit-
led, "An ordinance regulating the licensinf and limiting the
operation of vehicles upon the streets and avenues of the City of --
Salina, Kansas, engaged in the carrying of passengers for hire
between fixed points within the City of Salina, Kansas or between
oints within the City of Salina, Kansas, and without said City of
alina, Kansas, but whose route lies over and through the streets
and avenues within said City of Salina, and providing penalties
for the violation of this ordinance. 11
'On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.

A liabilit-indemnit policy was presented from
James McDade for the operation of a taxicab in the City of
Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the City Attorney for approval.
Commissioner Chambers moved that $50.00 be donated to
the G. A. R. to help defray expenses for Memorial Day exer-
cises.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the resignation of
B. I. Chambers as a member of the Board of Commissioners of
Salina, Kansas be accepted.
Commissioner Campbell placed the name of Chas. F. Dodds
as a member of the Board of Commissioners of Salina, Kansas
to fill vacancy by reason of B. I. Chamber's resignation.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
