Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Chambers and Campbell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February23rd, 1926 were read and approved as read. A committee from the Americanization Center appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked for a donation to be used for a Milk Fund. Commissioner Chambers moved that the City donate $25.00 for said fund. -Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was czlled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3224. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 1298, "An ordinance granting E. S. Alnutt, his heirs, successors and assigns, a franchise for the construction, oTr ration and maintenance of a street railway system in the City of Salina, Kansas, and the right to use and occupy any and all of the streets in said City for such purposes , by adding a new section, providing for the stablishment and oparation of a bus line or lines and the abandonment of a certain line of street railway therein and the conditions thereof." Said ordinance being read in full, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Planning Commission made recommendations for the amendment of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Salina, being Ordinance Number 3183 adopted and approved November 3rd, 1925. City Clerk was instructed to give notice of same in the official City paper as required by law, A special meeting con- cerning same to be held at the Commissioners in the City Hall, April 5th, 1926 at 5:00 P. M. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, gutter- ing and graveling of Ash Street from Missouri Pacific Railway Tracks to Olive Street. Same was received and ordered filed. A petition was presented asking for the graveling of Third Street from Iron Avenue south to the Smoky Hill River. S7ame was received and ordered filed. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the curbing, guttering and graveling of Ash Street from :Missouri Pacific Right -of -day to Olive Street. On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the graVtl ng of Third Street from Iron Avenue south to Smoky hill River. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Chambers moved that all bids received Febru- ary 23rd, 1926 for the N139776.29 Paving Bonds be rejected, and that the City Clerk be instructed to return certified checks to bidders. 41 1 i 1 0 1 1 City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate df cost for the cost of excavating, grading and grav- elling: Tenth Street from Lincoln Avenue to Grand Avenue; Thirteenth Street from Union Pacific Right -of -play to Grand Avenue. For the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving: Crawford 'venue from Tenth 6treet to Eleventh Street. For the cost of excavating, grading and paving: Baker Street from Morrison A venue to South Street. For the cost of curbing, exeavatinp, grading and graveling: Lincoln Avenue from Ninth Street to tenth Street. Ellsworth Avenue from Santa Fe "venue to Osborne Street, aryl for the widening of Seventh Street from Vdalnut Street to Elm Street. Commissioner Campbell moved that same be adopted and ordered filed. City Tanager Ragle reported favorably on the petition asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Woodland Avenue from Eighth Street to Ninth Street. Motion adopted.
