Regular -Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February 15th, 1926. 1.1eeting was called to order by :},payor Hargett, the roll wns called and the Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and Campbell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the -Regular ITeeting of February 8th, 1926 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance Trras read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was haat; Ayes: Hargett, Chamb- ers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The-:Tayor approved the same and is numbered 3220. An ordinance was introduced' entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The 11:1,ayor approved the same and is numbered 3221. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Comms sioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, exca- vating, gr,:ding and paving Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Elm Street to the south line of Bishop Street in said City be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Eleventh Street be curbed, guttered, excavat=d, graded and paved within the limits above defined. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0 ) An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, excavating, grading, and graveling with sand clay Ellsworth Avenue in -the City of Salina, Kansas from the east line of Santa Fe avenue to the west line of Osborne Street in said City, and croviding for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On mot -ion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 3188 b)y adding certain territory to the "C" Commercial District as defined by Section 5 of said Ordinance and permitting the use of ,, sa id territory for the purpose defined in Section 10thereof. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Woodland Avenue from 'Aghth Street to Ninth Street. Same was referred to the City 1;19-nager. r i i City :'.tanager Ragle appointed Harry Fuller, Jr.. as caretaker at the City Dump Grounds. On motion of Commissioner Campbell appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. City ITanager P.agle appointed Sam Green as Superintendent of the Municipal Swimming Pool. On motion of Commissioner Campbell appointment was con- firmed by the Board of Commissioners. The Newly elected Commissioner, Guy T. Helvering being present, the oath of office was administered to him by City Clerk Chas. E. Banker, and he assumed the position of City Commissioner of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Chambers moved that Commissioner Guy T. uelvering act as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and iayor of Salina, Kansas., for the unexpired term. of Jas. S. Hargett .,.,ho resigned December 7th, 1925., effective on this date. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners Tuesday, February 23rd, 1926 on account of Monday, adjourned until February 22nd, 1926 being a legal holiday. ty` .lerk. r
