1-1-egular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February
list, 1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and Camp-
bell and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular IJIe e t ing of January 25th, 1926
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds
of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of w' 3.4 6.29 to pay
the cost of improviding certain streets in said City.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett,
Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3210.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
enlarging the revolving fund in the Vlater '.'forks Department and
appropriating money from the "rater 1;corks Department Funds for
such purposes."
The following request was presented: "I hereby request
that the attached Ordinance entitled, 'An ordinance enlarging
the revolving fund in the Ilrater vVorks Department and appropriat-
ing money from the 'later Works Department Funds for such
purpose' be passed on first reading on this day as an emergency
measure on account of the immediate necessity of establishing
the fund therein created for the convenient and efficient opera-
tion of the °pater ilorks Department"

On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett,
Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3211.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mnyor approved the same and
is numbered 3212.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the excavating and groding and for
the graveling with sand clay type s-urface of Tenth Street in
the City of Galina, Kansas from the north line of Lincoln Avenue
y to the south line of `rand 'venue in said City, and providing for
the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner
of payment thereofor.
On ~notion of Commissioner
Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0)
The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3213.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the
curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and surfacing with sand
clay Lincoln Avenue in the City
of Galina, Kansas from the west
line of Ninth Street to the
4' west line of Tenth Street in said City, and providing for the
cost thereof how the same shall
be assessed and the manner of
payment theref or."

On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3214.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving Crawford Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas
from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of eleventh
Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, hpw the
same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3215.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the the excavating, grading paving of
Baker 'street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line
of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue in said.

assessed and the manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and ad.optef by s ections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett,
Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3216.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
An ordinance providing for the re -curbing and guttering of
Seventh Street in the City of Galina, Kansas from the north
line of Walnut Street to the south line of Elm Street in said
City, and for the excavating of such part of said street and the
removal of old curbing and sidewalk as may be necessary to
permit such improvements, providing for the cost thereof,, how the
same shall be assessed and manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adorted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Ilayor approved the same and
is numbered 3217.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading and gravel-
ing -with sand clay type surface Thirteenth Street in the City
of a 1 ina Kansas from the north line of the Union Pacific
Hight -of -slay to the south line of txrand avenue in said City, and
providing for the cost thereof, how itthe same shall be assessed
and the manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes : Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3218.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
IlAn ordinance amending Section 5 of Ordinance Number 3082 of the
City of Salina, Kansas, and repealing said original Section 5
of such ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
Resignation of Guy T. Helvering as a member of the
Water Works advisory Commission was presented and on motion of —
Commissioner Chambers same was accepted by the Board of Commis-

?.Payor J. S. Hargett submitted the name of Fred D. Kastner
as a member of the 'dater :forks -Advisory Commission of Galina,
Kansas, to fill vacancy caused by reason of resignation of
Guy T. Helvering. Said Appointment to take effect February
lst, 1926, for the unexpired term of said Guy T. Helvering.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointment was
confirmed.
The Farmers Union Auditing Association submitted Auditors
report of the City of Salina, Kansas for the ,year 1925, and on
motion of Commissioner Campbell same was received and ordered
filed.
The newly appointed City Manager, Harold Ragle was
present, and presented his surety bond in the amount of
45,000.00 and on motion of Commissioner Chambers same was ap-
proved and ordered filed, after which the oath of office was
administered to Ifiir. Ragle by City Clerk, Chas. E. Banker and
he assumed the position of office of City lvanager.
"ity Manager Ragle submitted the name of D. L. Combs as
'Night Fireman at the City Building.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers appointment was con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering
and paving of Lleventh Street from Elm Street to Bishop 'street.
Same was referred to the City Tdanager.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
