COTVISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JANUARY 11th, 1926.
Regualar meeting of the Board of Commissioners January
11th, 1926. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and Campbell
and City Attorney Ngrris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 4th, 1926
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entti led: "An ordnance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3202.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: --
"An ordinance vacating a portion of a certain alley in the City
of Salina, Kansas and providing for the conveyance or certain
other land to the City of Salina for alley purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3203.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance creating a revolving fund for tie use of the
Superintendent of the Water Works Department.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing certain regulations for traffic and the
parking of vehicles in case of fires, defining certain misdemean-
ors, and providing a penalty for the violation of the provisions
of this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the -
Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Chambers moved that the report and recommenda-
tions of the City Planning Commission relating to a proposed
change in the Zoning Ordinance being Ordinance Number 3188 by
adding to such District as defined in Section 10 of said Ordi-
nance the following, desctibed land:
"Lots 31 to 42 inclusive and Lots 43,455,473,49,
51, 53,57 and 59 all on Santa Fe Avenue in the
Grounds of the Kansas Wesleyan University, an
addition in said City, together with one-half
of any vacated alley joining said lots;
be received and approved and that notice of such proposed change
be given by publication for not less than thirty (30) days in
The Salina Journal, and that a hearing thereon be held by the
Board of Commissioners at the Commissionerst Rooms in the City
Hall in the City of Salina on the 15th day of February 1926
at 5:00 P. M.
City Attorney was instructed to draft a contract between
the Miss? Uri Pacific Railway Company and the City of Salina for the
extension of water main on West Crawford Avenue. Said contract to
be approved by the City Engineer.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers, 14ayor was authorized to
sign contract with the Neptune Meter Company for meters to be used
by the dater Department for 1926, commencing February 1st, 1926.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Mayor was authorized
to sign a contract with the Salina Municipal Band for concerts
to be given during the year 1926.
Resignation of Chas. M. Iiagler as Building Inspector
was submitted as follows:
Salina, Kansas. January 11th, 1926,
To City Commissioners,
Salina, Kansas.
I desire to place in your hands my resignation as Building
Inspector for the City of Salina, Kansas and said resignation
to take effect February lst, 1926.

On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was accepted by
the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Chambers moved that the resignation of
Commisd_ oner Hargett filed December 7th, 1925, be accepted to
take effect February 15th, 1926.
The following pool hall applications, bonds and permits
were received:
The Club
John S. Bordon,
C. 11. Allen,
The Smoker,
The Rex,
'fhite
Geo. Holzmeister,
Lamer Hotel,
Clayton Hotel.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers license was granted to
each of the above named pool halls subject to the approval of
bonds by the City x ttorney.
Commissioner Campbell placed in nomination the name of
Guy T. Helvering as a member of the Board of Commissioners of
Salina, Kansas to fill vacancy caused by reason of resignation
of James S. Hargett. said appointment to take effect February
15th, 19263, for the unexpired term of said James S. Hargett.
On a vote being taken, Guy T. Helvering was unanimously
elected by the Board of Commissioners as a Commissioner of the
City of Salina to fill the unexpired term of James S. hargett,

On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
