COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
DECEMBER 28th, 1925.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, December 28th, 1925. Meeting was
called to order by Acting Mayor Campbell, the roll was called
and Commissioners Chambers and Campbell and City Attorney
Norris responded. Commissioner Hargett absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 21st,
1925 were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and Camp-
bell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. Acting
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3197.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordjnance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and
Campbell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. Acting
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3198.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of the Viater Works plant
of the Salina Water Works Company and appurtenances, and for
the fixtures, appliances and equipment of said Company as fixed
by the appraisers appointed for such purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and
Campbell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. Acting
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3199.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the salaries and compensation to be paid
to certain officers and employees of the City of Salina, r�ansas
and repealing certain ordinances and parts of ordinances of
said City.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and Camp-
bell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. Acting
14ayor approved the same and is numbered 3200.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and requring a bond to be given by
all persons, firms or corporations securing permits to excavate
in the streets, alley% or other public grounds in the City of
Salina, Kansas, defining the conditions thereof and repealipg
all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
Balled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and
ampbell (2 ) Nays: (00 Commissioner Hargett absent. Act-
ing Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3201.

The following resolution was introduced for second read -

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating
grading and surfacing with sand clay Ellsworth Avenue in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to
the west line of Osborne Street in said City be and the same
is hereby, determined to be a necessary improvement, and that
said Ellsworth Avenue be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded
and surfaced with sand clay within the limits above defined.
Introduced for first reading, December 21st, 1925.
Adopted and approved ------- December 28th, 1925.

On motion of Commissioner Chambers the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Chambers and Campbell
(2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating a portion of a certain alley in the
City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the conveyance of
certain other land to the City of Salina for alley purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to
the Board of Commisst oners.
Acting Mayor Campbell submitted the names of the fol-
lowing named persons to work in the dater Works Department
of the City of Sa 1 ina :

R. J. Paulette, Consulting Engineer.
Lois Todd, Cashier,
Vim. McMillin, Chief Engineer,
P.C. McDonald, Assistant Engineer.
Chas. Eberly, Assistant Engineer.

Surl Thompson, Service h?an.
Mark McMillin, Meter Reader.
whose tenure of office shall begen January 2nd, 1926.
On Lotion of Commissioner Chambers appointements were
confirmed by the Board of Commissioners.
Acting Mayor Campbell submitted the names of the following
persons to act in the capacity of Water Works Advisory Com-
mission:
Leon Stevenson, for a term of 3 years
Raymond Geis, for a term of 3 years
G. T. Helvering,for a term of 2 years
i3aymond Gebhart ,for a term of 2 years
Roy Bailey, for a term of 1 year.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers appointments were con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
Acting Mayor Campbell submitted the anmes of Yam. Muir and
Vim. Gardner -as members of the Cemetery Board for a term of three
years from January 1st, 1926.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers appointments were con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ,Board bf=Commission-
ers adjourned.
