Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners `'eptember
8th, 1925. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and 6ampbell
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 31st, 19259
were read and approved as read.
Mayor Hargett presented proclamation for Special Election
of September 22nd, 1925.
Mayor Hargett appointed the following named Judges and.
Clerks for the Special Election of September 22nd, 1925:
FIRST WARD
Judges: E. S. Swanson, V. C. Grant, Mattie C. Arnold,
Clerks: Marguerite Daugherty, Vim. St olt zman.
SECOND WARD (NORTH PRECINCT)
Judges: Alma Estep, Alicp Barr, May 'Winters,
Clerks: L. F. Arend, Chloe Stuck.
SECOND WARD ( SOUTH PRECINCT)
Judges: Alice Shotwell, Russella Rising, Myrtle rackard,
Clerks: R. T. Humbargar, Ralph Hollenbaek.
THIRD WARD (NORTH PRECINCT)
Judges: A. H. Barth, I. C. H9nry, E. P. Brown,

On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments
were confirmed.
Taxicab application and indemnity policy was received
from B. R. Alldaffer.
On motion, same was referred to the City Attorney.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract .for the curbing and guttering of Baker
Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of
ouutth street to the north line of Morrison Avenue in said City.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3155.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract for the curbing and guttering of Phillips
Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of
Washington Avenue to the north line of Morrison Avenue in said
City."

On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and, the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3156.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used and
letting a contract for the curbing and guttering of Prescott h enue
in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line itof E even�th Street

to the east line of elf th Street in said City.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and 5!ampbe ll (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3157.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract for the curbing and guttering of Prescott
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Z
err eet to the east line of Twelfth ''treet in said City."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3157.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract for the curbing and guttering Twelfth
Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of
as—hixigton Avenue to the north line of Pscott "venue in said
City." _
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Caambers
and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3158.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract for the curbing and guttering of Washington
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line ofEleevventh
Street to the east line of Phillips Street in said City,
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers
and Campbell (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3159.
Anordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordiannee specifying and selecting the material to be used
and letting a contract for the excavating and grading, curbing and
guttering and surfacing with sand clay Jewell venue in the City
of ')alina, Kansas from the east line of Santa Fe venue to the
west line of Osborne otreet in said City."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adoxted by sections and on its finalmadoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Hargett, Chambers and
Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3160.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of
the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $7517.04 to pay the
cost of improving certain streets in said City."
On motion, same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
City Attorney Norris submitted a written opinion relative
to the protest against the re -curbing and Suttering of Seventh
Street from Walnut Street to Elm Street. ame was read to the
Board of Commissioners.
City Manager Layton reported as follows:

on his check of the protest against the re-eugbing and guttering
of Seventh S_tr_e_,tt from the south line of Elm treet to the north
line of Walnut Street I recommend that the pr6test be disregarded
and that the Ir oposed improvement be constructed.

A petition was received asking for the curbing, guttering
and paving of Crawford "venae from Tenth Street to Eleventh
Street. Same was referred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell,Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
