Regular Yeeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, August 17th, 1925. Meeting was called to order by rlayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and Campbell and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 10th, 1925, were read and approved as read. An Ordinance was introduced entitled: An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3142. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes in the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1925." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3143. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance making a special assessment and levy of taxes for the cutting of heeds on certain lots and parts of lots in the City of Salina, r�.ansas." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3144. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments against the property herein described to pay the cost of constructing certain sidewalks 14 in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll teas called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The 1l'iayor approved the same and is num- bered 3145. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying a special assessment against certain property herein described to pay the cost of moving and constructing cer- tain water service pipes and curb cocks in connection with the re-pavirl;, curbing and re -guttering of Fifth Street in the City of SSalina, .Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll ,,ras called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3 } Nays: (0) The 14ayor approved the same and is numbered 3146. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance repealing Section 4 of Ordinance Number 342 entit- led, "An ordinance granting the right-of-way to The Salina and Southwestern Railway Company through the City of Salina, Kansas and repealing Ordinance Dumber 202 entitled 'An ordinance to grant the right -of -tray to The Kansas Pacific Railway Company through the City of Salina on Fourth Str eet from the Kansas Pacific Railway to Iron Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The !'iayor a pproved the same and is numbered 3147. An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Twelfth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of ��as�hinton revenue to the north line of Prescott Avenue in said V City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Cahmbers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3148. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Phillips Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of Washington Avenue to the north line of IV'Iorrison Avenue in said City and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3149. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Prescott Avenue in the City of Salina, nansas from the west line of Eleventh Street to the east line of '4ielfth Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read J and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3150. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbingand guttering of Baker Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue in said City, v' and providing for the cost thereof,, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3151. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of ti'+ashin t;, on Avenue in the City of Salina, r-ansas from the Taest line of Eleventh Street to the east line of Phillips Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how : the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: ha.rgett, Chambers and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The 14ayor approved the same and is numbered 3152. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and gravel- ing of Jewell Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Osborne Street in said City, of Salina, and providing for the cost there of , how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment there- for." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambem- and Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3153. 85 C014MISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR ItEETING. City Manager Layton submitted the following: Board of Commissioners, Salina, Kansas. i Gentlemen: Harry Schumaker, the owner of Taxicab License number 16, for the operation of a taxicab in the City of Salina under the provisions of Ordinance Number 2948, having been charged with transporting liquor in the City of Salina in said taxicab, and having been convicted in police court of such charge, and notice having been served on the City of the cancellation of the liability insurance policy covering such taxicab by the insur- ance company furnishing such policy, I hereby recommend the revocation of said taxicab license heretofore issued to said person. Moved by Commissioner Chambers and seconded by Commis- sioner Campbell that the recommendation of the City Manager relative to the revocation of the taxicab license of Harry Schumaker be approved the that taxicab License Dumber 16, here- tofore issued to such person be and the same is hereby revoked, and that the City Clerk make a note of such revocation on his license records. moved by Commissioner Chambers and seconded by Commission- er Campbell that unless Lee Churchman furnish to the City a new policy of liability insurance, to be approved by the City Attorney as by ordinance provided, and file the same with the City Clerk with such approval noted thereon, on or before the 20th day of August 1925, the date upon which the cancellation of the policy now in force is to take effect according to the notice thereof served on the City by the insurance company issuing the same, that the taxicab license heretofore issued to said Lee Churchman, being License Dumber 11, be and the same is hereby revoked, to take effect on the date last men- tioned, and that the City Clerk make a note of the same on his license records. City Pdanager recommended that an are light be installed at the corner of Seventh and South Streets. Commissioner Chambers moved that the recommendation be adopted by the Board of Commissioners.
