COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JUNE 8th, 1925.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, June 8th,
1925. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll
was called and Commissioners Hargett, Chambers and Campbell and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 1st, 1925, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalk in
the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and
Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3117.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance Amending Section Two (2) of Ordinance Number 2598
entitled, 'An ordinance providing for the licensing of amusement
parks and socalled tent shows, whether operated in a tent or in
the open, carried on and operated within the City of Salina, kansas
and for the levying and collection of a license tax thereon, and
providing a penalty for the violation of the provisions of said
ordinance and repealing Ordinance Number 2383 of the City of
Salina, Kansas,t and repealing original Section Two (2) of Ordinance
Number 2598."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final ado tion the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Chambers and
Campbell (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3118.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for tnd requiring the recommendation by the
City Planning Commission to the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina of the boundaries of certain zones or districts into
which such City shall be divided for the regulation and restric-
tion of the location of trades and industries and the l:ioda- .
tion, erection, alteration and repair of buildings ddsignddf or
specified uses, and the uses of land, within each such district
or zone, providing for the submission of ate ntative report by said
commission containing such recommendation and for public hearings
thereon for the submission of a final report thereafter.
, On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting Union Pacific Railroad Company, its suc-
cessors and assigns the right to construct, maintain and operate
a standard gauge railroad track over and across an unnamed street
between Blocks 5 and 6 in Depot Addition and over and across the
eatt and west alley in Block 5 in Depot Addition, and upon and
along the north and south alley in Block 5 in Depot Addition, all
in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners .
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Prescott
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line o1v Elev-'
ent Street to the east line of Twelfth Street in said City and
providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and
the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An
ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of
Salina, Kansas
Twelfth Street in the City of from the north
line of Prescott Avenue to the south line of Washington Avenue
in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, hoyi the same
shall be assessed and the manner of payment thereof.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was received asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on the south side of Harsh Street from Santa Fe Avenue
to Ninth Street. Same was referred to the City Manager.
Application and taxi bond was received from W. B. McMickle,
and on motion same was referred to the City Attorney.
City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti-
mate of cost for the construction of certain curbing, guttering
and paving in said City.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same were approved by
the Board of Commissioners.
City Manager Layton submitted the name of D. K. Fitch as
Assistant Chief of Police of the. City of Salina, and on motion
of Commissioner Chambers the appointment was confirmed.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
