Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 4, 1930.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called
and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney
Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 28, 1930, were read
and approved as read.
Mayor Helvering appointed John Frederick, E. D. Martin and
L. W. Carl to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of
certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for
the cost of constructing Lateral Sewers No. 147 and 160.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the appointments were con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its sinal adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) lyiayor approved the same and is numbered 3936.
City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1 to R. C. S nyder
for the construction of Lateral Sewers No. 147 and 160, Job. No. 58,
under contract dated July, 14, 1930, and on motion of Uommissioner
Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was cALlled
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3937.
City Engineer submitted Estimate No. 2 to H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company, for construction of Storm Sewers.l7 and 18, Job
Number 45, under contract dated April 7, 1930, and on motion of
Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and
Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3938.
City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1, to C. B. Briscoe,
for construction of sidewalks, Job #56, under contract dated July
14, 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was approved
by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoptidn the roll_ was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered_ 3939.
City Engineer submitted Estimate Noe _4 to L. W. Rexroad for
construction of paving improvements, Job #57, under contract dated
April 7, 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved
by the Board of Commissioners.

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3940.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to T,. WA Rexroad, for
curbing and guttering Woodland Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to
Seventh Street, Job No. 57-B, under contract dat6d Jiily 14, 1930, and
on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was approved by the Board of
Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the ro1.7_ was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: l'elvdring, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is nunbered3941.
City Engineer submitted Estimate No. 5 to L. W. Rexroad, for
labor performed in the cinstruction of Dry Creek Flood control, under
contract dated March 10, 1930, and on motion of Commissioners Dodds
same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making, an
appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-

City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to L. V1. Rexroad for
paving Third Street from Iron Avenue south to the Smoky Hill River,
under contract dated I1ay 5, 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds
same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3943.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the building and
construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Districts No. 147 and 160, and providing for the issuance of
temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of
bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson
(3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3944.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the construction of
curbing and guttering Woodland Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Seventh
Street and providing for e -issuanceof temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fol-
lowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays:
(0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3945.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate for the construction
of sidewalks in the City of Salina.

An ordinance wa introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance levying special assessments against certain
property in the City of Salina to pay the cost of constructing
certain sidewalks therein."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same vas referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating certain streets and alleys in the City of
Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same vas referred: to the
Board of Commissioners.
Right-of-way easement was received from the United Power
and Light Corporation. Same was referred to the City Attorney.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
