06-23-1930 Minutes1 n COMMB SIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS, JUNE 230 1930. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, June 23, 1930. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris respr&ded. Commissioner Dodds absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 16, 1930 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing certain water and sewer service pipes in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll wase all.ed and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Stevenson (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Dodds absent. kayor approved the same and is numbered 3901. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbiiag and guttering of Woodland Avenue from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Sevent Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissibner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance fixing the salary of the Superintendent of the Waterworks Department of the City of Salina, and repealing all ordinances in conflict herewith." I On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An { ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, designated as Lateral Sewer District No. 147, providing for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer j in such district and for the cat thereof, and for the Levying of spacial assessments against the property in such district, for the payment of the cost, and for the issuing of bonds therefor." i On motion of Commissioner Steverson sante was referred to the I Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An j ordinance relating to the condemnation of an easement over, along and j in certain private property for the purpose of constructing therein 1 sanitary sewers and water lines; designating a benefit district and providing for the appointment of commissioners to make an appraise- ment and to assess damages and benefits on account of such condemna- tion." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188, being an ordinance dividing the Uity of §ali.na into zones or districts and regulating and re- stricting the location of trades and industries, etc., and the uses of lands in each of such districts or zones, and defining an addition- al Commercial District or Zone." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board Commissioners. of An ordinance was introduced_ for first reading entitled: "An ordinance fixing and providing for a license tax upon a certain occupation or business, and providing for the issuance of licenses therefor, and providing fopefi:a.ity for the violation of this ordinance: On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. 270 CityEngineer submitted plans and sgecifications and estimate of cost for the construction of Lateral ewer No. 160, as provided for in Ordinance Number 3900, and on motion of Commissioner Steven- son same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of Third Street from Prescott Avenue to Crawford Avenue, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the City Manager.
