06-02-1930 Minutes264 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. Commissioners room, Salina, Kansas. June 2, 1930. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 2, 1930. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering and Dodds and City Attorney Norris re- sponded. Commissioner Stevenson absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 26, 1930 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3887. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 3 to L. W. Rexroad for improvements at Salina Municipal Airport, under contract dated February 130 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissidner ytevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3888. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 6 to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for Ash Street Sewer Repair, under contract dated December 9, 1929, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3889. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate to R. C. Snyder for construction of Lateral Sewers No. 153 and 157 under contract dated March 17, 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3892. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 3 to L. W. Rexroad for the construction of Dry Creek Flood Control improvements, under con- tract dated March 10, 1930 and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: It An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hlvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. layor approved the same and is numbered 3893. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appropriat= ing the sum of $1032.65 from the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment Fund for the purchase of United States Government Bonds in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 3530." An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with L. W. Rexroad for the constructi©n of certain paving improvements on a certain street in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. 9 Mayor Helvering appointed I. J. (Ted) Branson as a member of the Welfare Baa rd for a term of five years from May 26, 1930, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds appointment was confirmed by the Board i of Commissioners. A -petition was presented asking that alley closed last year to remain closed, which ran parallel to Front Street between that street and Second Street, touching Pacific Street on the north and i Woodland Avenue on the south. 6 Commissioner Dodds moved that the above named petition be ordered filed. Motion carried. City Manager reported favorable on petition asking for the sanding of Hancock street from Crawford Avenue to Republic Avenue, as soon as water and sewer services have been installed. Motion adopted. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stevenson absent. Mayor approved the same and is num- i bered 3894. 1 An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance defining and establishing a parking zone for busses or stages on the south side of Ash Street in the City of Salina and re- pealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance and providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) j (Mbmmissioner Stevenson absent.
