Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the.Regular Meeting of May 12, 1930 were j read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.' On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vgte was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3885. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: An ordinance vacating a certain portion of Woodlawn AvenTe in the City of Salina." i On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following 'vote was had: Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3886. i Trust Deed was received from Mrs. Christine Campbell Loomis with a deposit of $100.00. Commissioner Stevenson moved that same be accepted and filed, and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted* The following communication was received from the City Planning Commission: Salina, Kansas. May 15, 1930. The City Planning Commission met in regular session in the Chamber of Commerce rooms at 5:00 P. M. Members present: Dyar,Chairman; Bren, Robb, Pafford, Shaver, Leington and Reynolds. All members present. In response to a petition presented by Mr. 'j'immons request- ing a change in zoning in the 800 block on ast Iron Avenue to permit the placing of a grocery store in this location; the Com- mission believing there was no particular need for the opening of this business at this location, due to the fact that there is already established stores within a radius of two blocks of this location voted to make no recommendation in connection with this petition., In connection with a petition presented by Rev. Wooten of the Nazarene Church asking permission to extend the size of a residence building in which they are now worshipping at Tenth Street and Prescott Avenue; since this addition would be a violation of the zoning ordinance pertaining to building set -back#, the Commission felt this question did not come within their jurildietion but voted to refer the petition to the City Building nspect6r with the recommendation that he refuse to issue a building permit cover- ing this project if it is in violation of the zoning ordinances. In connection with a petition presented by Mr. Fagerstrom requesting the re -zoning of the lot at the southwest corner of the intersection of Ninth and Walnut, and the southeast corner lot at the same location; since there was a remonstrance petition presented covering this question, the commission felt reluctant to take any definite action on this until further in- formation could be gained; the Chairman was therefore instructed to appoint a committee from its membership to make further in- vestigation, and to consider further the possibility of rezoning additional territory in this vicinity due to the business growth in this part of the city, particularly in the vicinity of Seventh and Walnut. The Chairman appointed Mr. Shaver and Mr. Reynolds to 262 this committee with instructiont to study this territory and report back to the Commission at a called meeting May 22nd. A petition was presented asking forthe curbing, guttering and paving of Woodland Avenue from Banta Fe enue to Seventh Street. Same was ordered f ile d. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering and gaving of Eleventh.Street from Frost Street to Fairview Street. ame was ordered filed. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Woodland Avenue from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east 11ne of SevenVH Street. " On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Plat of Southview Addition and Lamers 2nd Subdivision were presented, same having been approved by the.City Planning Commission, Commissioner Dodder moved that plats be approved by the Board of Com- missioners. Motion adopted. No one appeared to protest against the proposed change in Zoning Ordinance, by placing within the "C" Commercial District 1 the East one-half of Blocks 2, 11, 14 and 23 and the west one-half of Blocks lo, 15 and.22 in the Episcopal Military Institute Addition.
