Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, April 21, 1930.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called
and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney
Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 148 1930 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Naysl Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (31 Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the same and is numbered 3870.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "Ah
ordinance providing for the paving of Third Street from the south
line of Iron Avenue south to the SmokyRver, and providing
for the cost thereof how the same shall be assessed and the manner
of payment therefor,
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the followingvote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3871.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the construction
of Storm Sewers No. 17 and 18 in the City of Salina, and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending
the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the followin vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson
(3) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3872.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with L. W. Rexroad for
the construction of certain curbing, guttering and paving improvements
on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issu-
ance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance
and sale of bonds*"
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3873.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:: "An
ordinance providing for and requiring the cutting and destruction of
all weeds and obnoxious growths of vegetation on lots and pieces of
land in the City of Salina, and in the streets and alleys in front
of and abutting upon any such lot or piece of land; declaring such
weeds and obnoxious growths of vegetation to be a public nuisance;
providing for the abatement thereof and for the assessing the cost
of cutting and destroying such weeds and obnoxious growths of vege-
tation; providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance and
repealing Ordinance No. 2918, being Chapter 31 of Revised Ordinances
19259"
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering
and paving improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and
providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof
pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.

City Engineer was instructed to notify all railroad companies
owning crossings on paved streets in the City of Salina, to bring
same up to grade. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
