COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS,
FEBRUARY 24, 1930.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February 24,
1930. Pieeting was called to order by Mayor 3elvering, the roll was
called and Commissioners helvering, Dodds.and Stevenson and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 17, 1930 were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was intro1uced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3021,as amended by
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3800, relating to and regulating the
erection and construction_ of signs hanging over or across streets
or public thoroughfares of the City of Salina, and repealing such
original sections."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the follow in vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven-
son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3838.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance porhibiting the growing or raising of corn, sweet corn, kaf-
fir corn, cane, milo maize and other tall growing forage crops, in
certain portions of the City of Salina, and providing a penalty for the
violation of this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson
(3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3839.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing that certain platted and unplatted tracts of land
which adjoin the present limits of the City of Salina, Kansas, be
added to, taken into and made parts of the City of Salina; extending
the limits of said city to include said added land; defining the
corporate limits of said city as extended; and repealing all ordinances
or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of Third Street
from Iron Avenue south to the Smoky Hill River. Same was referred
to the City Attorney to draft an ordinance.
City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received
up to 4:00 P. M. March 100 1930 for the construction of Mmsbo■■e
Section 1 and 4NUUM Section 2 of Dry Creek flood control project.
On motion of'Commissioner 6tevenson, the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
