11-12-1929 Minutes.;Op: COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA# KANSAS. NOVEMBER 12th, 1929 Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, November 12th, 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 5th, 19290 were read and approved as read. I An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." j On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3808. i An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the vacation of certain alleys in Block No. 5 and Block No. 10 in Depot Addition to Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3809. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 39 of Ordinance No. 2993 being Section 5-329 Revised Ordinances 1925 as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3639 relating to the location of gasoline filling stations and repealing said original sections." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. i A petition was presented asking for the paving of Prescott Avenue from the west line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Twelfth Street. Same was ordered filed. Commissioner Stevenson moved that the City Engineer's plans and sp;cifications and estimate of cost for the reconstruction of East Ash street sewer, filed in the office of the City Clerk, August 12th, 1929, as provided for by Ordinance No. 3760,be approved by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk be instruct- ed to advertise for bids for such work to be received up to and including Monday, December 9th, 1929 at 4:00 P. M. Motion carried. On motion of Commissioner Dodds, seconded by Commissioner Stevenson,and duly passed, the City Engineer, R. J. Paulette was instructed to present the reports filed by him in the office of the City Clerk on October 24th, 1929, and approved by the Board of Com- missioners at their regular meeting on October 28th, 1929, relating to the protection of the City of Salina from the flood waters of the Smoky Hill River and of Dry Creek, and'which have been duly certi- fied by the City Clerk as provided by law, to the Public Service Commission of the State of Kansas for their approval as required by j law, and for the approval of the Engineer of said Public Service Commission and of the Engineer of the Division of Water Resources I and to the Engineer in charge at Kansas City, Missouri, of the corps of Engineers of the United States Army.
