10-07-1929 Minutes168 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING Regular meeting of the board of Commissioners, October 7th, 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and otevenson and Uity Attorney Dorris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of beptember 30th, 1929 and "egular Meeting of October 2nd, 1929, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3789. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate for H. J. Taylor Construction Company, under Paving Contract awarded June 10th, 1929, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 3790. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 4, for H. J. Taylor Construction Company, under Storm Sewer contract awarded March 25th, 1929, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stev- enson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3791. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate for H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company under paving contract awarded June 10th, 19298 for the paving of Eleventh Street from Ash Street to Park street, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoptidn the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stev- enson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3792. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in.the sum of $141,671.07 to pay the cost of constructing certain storm sewers in said city." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stev- enson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3796. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for fire prevention measures; relating to and regulating the storage and keeping of combustible or in- flammable materials in the City of Salina; providing for and requiring the entrance into and the inspection of dwelling houses and other buildings and inclosures in said city by the chief or members of the Fire Department; providing for and requiring removal from any premises in said city of any combustible, inflammable or explosive matter, or of any accumulation thereof so situated as to endanger property or liable to cause fire; defining certain mis- demeanors, providing a penalty therefor and repealing certain ordi- nances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stev- enson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3797. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and regulating the erection and construction of signs hanging over or across streets and public thoroughfares in the City of balina, amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3021 being section 5-604 of Revised Ordinances 1925, and repealing such original section.rr On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Taxicab liability policy and application for 2 taxicabs was received from Mrs. W. B. McMickle, owner of DeLuxe Cab Company. Commissioner Stevenson moved that Liability policy be approved by the Board of Commissioners; and that license be granted to Mrs. W. B. McMickle for two taxicabs. Motion carried. 170 On motion of Commissioner Dodds taxicab license for J. G. War - holm Carl 0. Nelson and LuiswColvin as suspended, on account of insurance having expired. Motion carried.
