COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
SEPTEMBER 30th, 1929.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September 30th,
1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hblvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 27th, 1929
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by'sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stev-
enson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3787.
A petition was presented askiLg for the construction of a
sidewalk on the east side of Tenth treet, commencing at Charles
Street and extending south 200 feet. Same was referred to the City
Manager, who recommended the construction of said sidewalk.
A petition was presented asking ,for the construction of a
sidewalk on Walnut Street from Clark street east to the Missouri
Pacific tracks. Same was referred to the City Manager, who recom-
mended the construction of said sidewalk.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sanitary sewer in the alley between Sheridan Street and Merrill
Street from Crawford Avenue to Republic Avenue. Same was referred
to the City Engineer.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sanitary sewer in alley between Sheridan Street and Custer Street
from Crawford Avenue to Republic Avenue. Same was referred to the
City Engineer.
A communication was received from the League of Kansas
Municipalities in reference to appointing two delegates to attend
State Convention at Arkansas City, Kansas, October 28,29 and 30th,
1929. Same was ordered filed.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance provding for fire Ir evention measures; relating to
and regulating the storage and keeping of combustible or in-
flammable materials in the City of Salina; providing for abd
req-giring the entrance into and the inspection of dwelling houses
and other buildings and inclosures in said city by the chief or
members of the Fire Department; providing for and requiring removal
from any premises in said city of any combustible, inflammable or
explosive matter, or of any accumulation thereof, so situated as to
endanger property or liable to cause fire; defining certain misde-
meanors, providing a penalty therefor and repealing certain ordinan-
ces in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
The following resolution was introduced and passed:
RESOLUTION NO. 478.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina that the amended plans filed by Swift & Company, dated
May 100 1929 and filed in the office of the City Clerk May 13,
1929 for the erection of a loading dock on Elm Street in the
City of Salina as authorized by Ordinance No. 3704, the original
plans being dated April 260 1929 and which were filed in the
office of the City Clerk April 292 1929, be and the same are hereby
approved; that the dock be erected in accordance with such amend-
ed
mended plans, which has now been completed, with the changes in drain-
age made during the construction of such dock, be and the same is
hereby approved; PROVIDED, however, that such dock shall at all
times during its existence be kept operated and maintained in
accordinance with the provisions of said Ordinance 3704.

On notion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3)
Hays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 478.

On notion of Commissioner otevenson, the Board of Commis-
sioners adjourned until Ilednesday, October 2nd., 1929 at 5:00 P. M.
