09-03-1929 Minutes.a COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 3rd, 1929. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September 3rd, 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and "te venson and City Attorney Norris responded. ' The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 26th, 1929 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled; "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Ste venson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3771. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate, Job No. 48, under contract awarded to L. W. Rexroad, June 10th, 1929, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commission- ers. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3772. City Engineer submitted Estimate No. 1, Job No. 48, Section j 4, contractawarded to M. R. J. Taylor Construction Company, March 25th, 1929, I and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement 0 Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $89,479.15, to pay the cost of improving certain streets and alleys in said City." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and j = adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson f (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3778. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to, regulating and prohibiting the construction and use of vaults and cesspools,. regulating and suppressing those already constructed; compelling and regulating the connection of all 9 property with sewers; providing for certain exceptions to this ordinance; defining certain nuisances and providing for the abatement and for the taxing of the cost thereof, and repealing certain ordi- I nances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith." On m otion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final. adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson (3) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3779. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ! ordinance relating to the appropriation of certain private property for the widening of Ohio Street from the south line of Gzpsum Aven- ue to the south city limits at the intersection of Ohio treet and Greeley Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Dodds and Steven- son (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3780. Street Excavating Bond under Ordinance No. 3644 was received from A. J. Bachofer, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. I Application was received from the Western Union Telegraph Com- pany asking for permission to construct a manhole over the Telephone Company's conduit at Iron avenue and Seventh Street., and on motion, jpermission was granted. On motion of Commissioner Dodds, Mayor was authorized to sign supplemental agreement with Mausoleum Builders Corporation of Wichita, Kansas, for mausoleum to be erectdd in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas, fixing site for mausoleum as West half of Circle, and extending date of commencement from September lst, 1928 to Octo- ber lst, 1929.
