08-12-1929 MInutes15% COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 12th, 1929. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 12th, 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 5th, 1929s, were read and approved as read. City Engineer submitted report and estimate of cost for j sidewalks that had not been constructed by property owners. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the City Engineer was author- ized to let contract for such sidewalks, same not to exceed the estimate. Tentative Budget for the year 1930 was presented and read. A petition was presented asking for the widening of Ohio Street from Gypsum Avenue to the south limits of the City. same was referred to the City Engineer to make a report on the condition of said street. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Lot 14, Ninth Street, Grounds of Kansas University Addition, and a sidewalk in front of Lots 14- 16-18-20-22 and 24 on Ninth street, Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University Addition. Same was referred to the City Enginder. A petition was presented asking for the extension of i water mains on Grand Avenue from Ninth Street to Santa Fe Avenue. Same was referred to the Waterworks Advisory Board. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the establishment of a City Court in the City of Salina and defining the Jurisdiction thereof and the pow- ers and duties of the officers thereof, and limiting the jurisdictjon thereof, and the jurisdiction of the Justices of Peace of the City of Salina, and creating said court and creating a Judge, a Clerk and a Marshal of said court, and defining their duties and providing for the appointment and election of the judge, the clerk and the marshal of said court and providing for their salaries and the payment thereof." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Dodds, the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign the lease between the City of Salina and Saline County for the leasing of a part of Kenwood Park for the use of Fair Buildings. i Street Excavating Bond under Ordinance No. 3644 was present- ed from Lyon & Gustafson, and on motion of Commissioner Stevenson I same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. i On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the Board of Commission- ers adjourned.
