SALINA, KANSAS.
MAY 13th, 1929.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, May 13th, 1929.
Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Dodds, the roll was called
and Commissioners Dodds and Stevenson and City Attorney Norris re-
sponded. Commissioner Helvering absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 6th, 1929 were read
and approved as read.
A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lot One (1)
and the North one-half of Lot Three (3), Santa Fe Avenue, Holland's
Addition in the City of Salina, Kansas. Same was referred to the
City Planning Commission.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and cstevenson (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3706.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appropri-
ating the sum of $1302.83 from the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment
Fund for the purchase of United States Government Bonds in accord-
ance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 3530."
On motion of Commissioner otevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and Stevenson (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3707.
An ordinance was introduced. for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing guttering and paving of Tenth
Street fromthe north line of Elm street to the south line of Bishop
rt eek, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be
assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and Stevenson (2) Na7s:(0)
Acting Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3708.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Wilson Jtreet
from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line 0fS0_7ttz treet,
and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed
and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and Stevenson (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3709.
M. J. Finnegan appeared before the Board of Commissioners and
asked permission to move a residence from 236 S. Santa Fe Avenue to
644 S. Santa Fe Avenue. Permission granted.
A remonstrance was received protesting against the curbing,
guttering and paving of Connecticut Avenue from Iron Avenue to Stapler
Avenue. Same was referred to the City Attorney.
Petition was presented asking for the widening and grading of
Kirwin Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the west line of
Park View Addition. Same was referred to the City Engineer.
Bids for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 15, as advertise d

Number 15 was read.
Commissioner Stevenson moved that the contract for the con-
struction of Storm Sewer Number 15, be awarded to Salina Plumbing
Company as per their bid submitted. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Stevenson moved that the certified checks be
f returned by the City Clerk to the unsuccessful bidders.

for the Special Election of May 21st, 1929:

Commissioner Stevenson moved that the appointments be con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
City Attorney was instructed to notify Wm. Keimold to con-
nect house located on North Eighth Otreet with sewer.

Commissioner otevenson moved that Acting Mayor be authorized
to sign contract with the Rock Island Railroad Company for a twelve -
inch water main on Fifth "treet.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson, the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
