CO19JISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
APRIL 29th, 1929.
Regular meeting of the zoard of Commissioners, April 29th,
1929. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Dodds, the roll
was called and Commissioners Dodds and Otevenson and City Attorney
Norris responded. Commissioner Helvering absent.
The minutes of the opecial Meeting of April 22nd, 1929 and
Regular Meeting of April 22nd, 1929, were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and Stevenson (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor Dodds
approved the same and is numbered 3698.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Fifth
Street from the north line of Elm Jtreet to the south line o— North
Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be
assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vott§ was had; Ayes: Stevenson and Dodds (2) Nays:
(0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3699.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the construction of a certain storm sewer in
the City of Salina, to be designated as 6torm newer No. 15, and pro-
viding for the issuing of Improvement Bonds to pay the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Jtevenson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dodds and Stevenson (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3700.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading and read in
full entitled: "An ordinance granting to L. E. Keeton, doing busi-
ness as the Salina Transportation Company, his heirs, successors and
assigns, a franchise for the maintenance and operation of a system
of busses in the City of Salina, and the right to operate busses
through, upon and along the streets and alleys or other public high-
ways of the City of Salina, Kansas, for such purpose."
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance granting to Swift & Company, its successors and assigns,
the right to erect a loading dock on Elm Otreet in the City of Jalina
Kansas, and providing for the construction of a subway to be used as
a sidewalk through and under said dock, and the maintenance thereof."
On motion of Commissioner otevenson same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk west of alley and also east of 1123 State otreet; also to
finish walk west of 1127 State Street. Same was referred to the City
Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on the east side of Twelfth Jtreet from Washington Avenue
to Morrison Avenue; also on the south side of Morrison Avenue from
Twelfth Street east to present sidewalk. Same was referred to the
City Manager.
Street Excavating Bond, under Ordinance Number 3644 was re-
ceived from Victor E. Olson.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson, same was approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
j On motion of Commissioner Stevenson, Acting Mayor Dodds was
t instructed to sign releases for bonds written for Chas. F. Dodds,
i City Commissioner and Victor E. Olson, Plumbing Bond, same having
been written in other companies.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson, the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
