1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular I-leeting of April 1st, 1929 and
Canvassing Board Meeting of April 5th, 1929 were read and approved
as read.
j An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."

On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3689.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appro-
priating and transferring certain funds from the Fire Department
Fund to the Firemen's Relief Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3690.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and
paving Ellsworth Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the
east line of
H m hand Circle."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Trust Deed was received from VIm. Foulkes, with a deposit of
$75.00.
Commissioner Campbell moved that same be accepted and filed,
and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit in
the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance
Number 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted.
There being no further business appearing, on motion of Com-
missioner Campbell the present Board of Commissioners adjourned.
The newly elected members being present and having filed
their bonds, the CityClerk administered the oath of office to Chas.
F. Dodds and III. A. Stevenson, newly elected members of the Board of
Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Commissioner Dodds nominated Guy T. Helvering as Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners and 1,layor of the City of Salina, Kansas
for the ensuing term, and moved that the City Clerk cast the unani-
mous vote for Guy T. Helvering as Mayor of the City of Salina for
the ensuing term.
Motion carried and Guy T. Helvering declared elected as
Mayor for the ensuing term.
Commissioner Stevenson nominated Chas. F. Dodds as Acting Mayor
of the City of Salina, Kansas, for the ensuing term, to act as such
in the absence of the Mayor, and that the City Clerk cast the unani-
mous vote for Chas. F. Dodds as Acting Mayor of the City of Salina,
Kansas for the ensuing term.
Motion carried and Chas. F. Dodds declared elected as Acting
Mayor for the ensuing terry.
On motion of Commissioner Stevenson, the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
