MARCH 11th, 1929.
1 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, March 11th,
1929. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Campbell, the
roll was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dodds and City At-
torney Norris responded. Commissioner Helvering absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 4th, 1929 were
read and approved as read.
Bids for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 11, and
for the curbing, guttering and paving certain streets as advertised
for were received from:
! C. T. Snyder, Salina, Kansas.
i C. H. Evert, Hutchinson, Kansas.
f Reed & Wheelock, Clay Center, Kansas.
L. W. Rexroad, Salina, Kansas,
Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas.
City Engineers estimate for the above named work was read.

Bids were tabulated by the City Engineer.
f Commissioner Dodds moved that the contract for curbing,
guttering and paving be awarded to L. W. Rexroad for reinforced
! concrete paving as per his bid submitted. Motion carried.
Commissioner Dodds moved that H. J. Taylor Construction Company
i be awarded the contract for the construction of Storm Sewer Number 11
and that the matter of material be determined later. Motion carried.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, the City Clerk was instructed
to return certified checks to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion
carried.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
i adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2) Nays:
(0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3678.
{ An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance granting Union Pacific Railroad Company, its successors
and assigns the right to extend, reconstruct and re -locate a certain
switch track or spur, now located in Fourth Street between Iron
r
Avenue and Walnut Street."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2) Nays:
(0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 3679.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A
resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of
Wilson Street from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line
of Sietz Street."

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted as
I read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following
vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2) Nays: (0) Commission-
er Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved the same and is,numbered
463.

lution Book Number 2.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A
j resolution relating to and providing for the repaving, recurbing and
reguttering of Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, from
j the south line of Walnutreet to the south line of right-of-way of
the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad."

On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was read and
adopted by the following vote: Ayeso Campbell and Dodds (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 464.
The above resolution -is recorded in full on Pages 110 and
ill of Resolution book Number 2.
Street Excavation Bond under Ordinance Number 3644 was re-
ceived from:
The Kansas Pipe Zine and Gas Company
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Im-
rovement bonds of the City of Salina, Kansaq, in the sum of
24,065.57 to pay the cost of constructing certain main and lateral
sanitary sewers, and of constructing a certain sewage pumping station

On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering
and paving of Tenth Street from Elm Street to Bishop Street. Same
was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and paving of
Tenth Street fbom the north line of Elm Street to the south line
of Bis op S reet ."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: 11A
resolution relating to and providing for the protection of the City
of Galina and of the public and private property therein from
floods and damage by the overflow of the Smoky Hill River."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to•the
Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the Board of Commis-
sioners adjourned.
