Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January 14th,
j 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was
called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell. and Dodds and City
xtt orney Norris responded. ,

Regular Meeting of January 7th, 1929 were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."

I On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had: Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
! (3) Nays: (0) the Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3652. !

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the appropriation and
transfer of certain unepxneded balances in certain sub -divisions or
departments of the General Fund toan account designated as the
Unexpended Balance Account of the General Fund, and authorizing and
directing the transfer of certain amounts from said unexpended
balance account to certain other sub -divisions of the General Fund."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
(3) Nays: 0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3653.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Second Street !
k from the north line of Elm Street to the sputh line of North 6treet
and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed
and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes:" Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
(3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and. is numbered 3654.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the paving of Republic Avenue from the
east line of Fifth Street to the east lane of Third Jtreet, and
providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and
the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
(3) Ways: (0) The Mayor approved the s ame and is numbered 3655.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the paving of Ylashington Avenue from the west
line of Eleventh Street to the west line o we -ST-reef and pro-
viding for the cost thereof how the same shall be assessed and the
manner of -)ayment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds

Avenue from the south line of Beloit Avenue to the north line o _
Ulafl n Avenue, and providing for the cost thereof, h(w the same shall
be assessed and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Columbia
Avenue from the north line of Ash Street to Riverside Drive, and
providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the
manner of payment therefor."
On notion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and.
adopted by sections and on 3.ts final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
(3) Nays: (0) The IVayor approved the same and is numbered 3659.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering ar.d paving of Oakdale
Avenue from the south line of Gypsum Avenue to Kenwood Park Bridge,
andpproviding for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed
and the manner of payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read. and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the .roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3)
Nays: (0) The 'Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3660.

On motion of Commissioner Campbell .license was granted to the
above named persons to operate a pool hall in the City of Salina from
January lst, 1929 to June 30th, 1929.
Applications for permission to operate taxicabs in the City of
Salina were received from:

Jas. McDade.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds license ir,,as granted.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of a
street _light at the corner of 6anta Fe Avenue and Decatur ;street.
Same was referred to the City Yanager.
City Engineer submitted the following schedule of charges for

In the case of cuts in asphalt paving where the asphalt top is
removed unbroken, and in such condition that it can be re-laid the
charge for repairing shall be 0.75 per sq. ft.
VvInere street excavations have been enlarged at the bottom by
tunnelling or undercutting, so that the backfill cannot be properly
tamped, the cut shall be enlarged sufficiently to permit proper tamping
and the charges shall be based. upon the enlarged cut.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the foregoing schedule
of charges for refilling and repaving street excavations as provided
in ordinance Number 3644 was approved by the Board of Cormissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
